2019 ISPS Handa Vic Open Feb 07 - 10

Just watched a little and the format explained...

 

150 some players from each gender...going out in alternating groups on couple of courses.

 

65 players from each tour will move on and play 3rd round.

 

35 players (from each tour) will play on the final day.

 

Prize money exact same for each tour.

 

Didn't quite catch whether the winner gets 1.5M Aussie or it's the total purse.

Minjee made the cut right on the cutline.

 

Rough day two for Muni He. After shooting a solid 70 in the first round, she backs it up with a poor 81. The 2nd day scoring definitely seemed higher. I can't recall seeing a round that had this many scores of 80+. Even Charley managed an 81. Hannah Green also missed the cut with a 78.

I saw Muni and Charley`s scores and almost sh*t a brick...wow.

She`s up there for me also, I noticed a lot last year her Sundays tend to fall apart.

 

Yeah the dreaded Sunday sure is the universal stumbling block. I wonder how many Sundays in contention it takes for a player to feel used to them and be able to play it like a normal round. Never maybe? So hard to even get there.

 

Gah, that is a heart-breaker about Muni :( I was excited too. Guess going to have to take the consolation that one good round is better than no good rounds. Mina Harigae did the same thing.

 

That is interesting about Alison. Going to take a lot of sustained good results to turn around the past couple of seasons.

 

Super happy about Minjee making it on her home turf! Wouldn't want her season to start that way. Same for Webb, turned it on for round 2! Awesome. Happy Xiyu made it too.

It will take Lily a while to put it all together.

When things get tough, the tendency is to reverse to the mean; Lily Muni will need time to reset her mean.

Third round conditions look tough. Currently 20+ mph winds with gusts up to 44 mph. The winds are listed as a "refreshing breeze". Lol.

MC, struck it great but couldn't read the greens all week and struggled with pace and line, shot 2 over yesterday without a birdie, very frustrating. Hit 31 greens. Not good enough. Great learning experience though

The handful of 69's were well earned. 75 - 78 was the norm. It looks like it's a four player tournament at this point. The 4 players at -4 will have to do something fantastic to get back into it.

Celine Boutier's 69 was out of this world; she played the afternoon groups when winds were howling.

Mirim Lee and Kylie Henry played the morning groups; when winds were less gusty.
