Best deals around Milwaukee

So I will be moving to Milwaukee in the spring. I want to play many different courses, but I wouldn't be opposed to doing an unlimited golf membership if the price/course was right. I have played a few courses over in that region that I want to put back on "hit list" for the coming year. I'd like to hear from you guys about what deals you know about, what courses you recommend, and any other general knowledge you would like to bestow upon me.

 

Here are the courses I know I plan to play at least once: The Irish, The Bull, The Bog, Nagawaukee War Memorial, Western Lakes, New Berlin GC, Brown Deer.

 

I'm just looking for ideas, and I will be playing the more expensive ones in the fall when I can get a bit of a deal. What do you guys know of/ recommend?

Washington County is a great course and one you should check out. By far my favorite course for the price. The Bull and The Bog are nice for sure and always in amazing condition. Brown Deer has a nice layout too.

Washington County should be on your list as stated above. MeKwon is a very good muni in the same general area as some you have listed. In terms of "deals" I don't know as I can help, but you will want to get a resident card for the county in which you reside. It can be very helpful in greens fees on muni's in your home area.

 

If you set aside a couple truly upscale Country Clubs, I think you will find CC fees in the metro Milwaukee are very reasonable compared to our neighbors in Chicago.

Take Western Lakes off your list. It's a clear step below the others. As has been said MeKwon is a very good value. I also didn't mink the other county course, Wanaki. Johnson Park in Racine is also a pretty solid muni. Fire Ridge is up north by the Bog and a lot of people in Milwaukee really like it. I found it to be OK, but not worth the premium price for the MKE area.

For practice try missing links. Nice range and a fun par 3. Also, for county courses Whitnall is better than most.

 

If you are looking a little out of the city Brighton Dale is a nice 45 home facility with a varied layout.

Whitnall and Currie Park always seem to be the first to open and the last to close. #'s 9 & 18 at Currie will test both your legs and your length.

From my experiences, avoid Currie as if it’s the Plague on weekend mornings. I’ve had a few 5:30-6 hour rounds there.

If you aren't opposed to driving... get yourself a 50/50 membership from The Bull... can't beat $37.50 for an early AM or twilight tee time
