Best book/ video to learn swing basics

In my opinion Waldron's stuff is over analytical and so not the best for someone with too many thoughts / theories in their head already.

At its core, the golf swing is a very simple move really and he'd be better off with someone who can emphasise that.

You have too many swing thoughts and you want to read another book on the swing?

 

I'd suggest something like "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" by Bob Rotella. At some point, you need to stop thinking about the golf swing.

Waldron’s ethos is to NOT use swing thoughts.

 

In my opinion the golf swing is complicated! if it was easy then everyone wouldn’t be so terrible !

 

But just because something is athletically difficult doesn’t mean your head should be filled with intellectual theories.

 

His drills and training are detailed and considered, but his ethos is when actually playing to be clear positive and confident ~ then you have to trust the training you have done is going to put you in a position to achieve gd results

When you need a book and 12 feature length DVDs to explain a 1.0 second athletic movement, it's over complicated for me.

Check out Monte's "The Efficient Swing" video. It breaks down all the parts of the swing and gives you drills. It is very simple and you can work on any part of the swing and then tie them together.

Ray Floyd's THE ELEMENTS OF SCORING is excellent if you want to shoot lower scores. He nets it down. It's not a how to swing book, but much more valuable. He can teach a 20 hdcp to be a 10. A 10 to be a 5. Recommended.

Here is nice easy read, but very enlightening little book. FINALLY: THE GOLF SWING'S SIMPLE SECRET.

The author is J F Tamayo. I was skeptical at first, but he really explains the basics very well. I liked his short game book also.
