BUT it’s absolutely horrible for driving, way too soft and is at least 10-15 yards shorter carry than 2019 Pro V1. The total run out (because of lower spin) makes it only about 5 yards difference in total, but there are bunkers on my home course that is absolutely impossible to carry with AVX.

Several players have switched to it on tour since it's release a few years ago. Think of it as a firmer AVX with a Pro V1 urethane cover. It's got more layers than the AVX too.

Thanks for finding that. I knew there was something different, besides the catenary construction of the dimples, but I couldn’t remember exactly how.

I know manufacturers like to trumpet various details of a ball's construction in their marketing material because some people are really into that sort of thing. But a ball does what it does. Without trying the, it's impossible to know whether a "GRN41" formulation of urethane is better, worse, different, whatever compared to any other kind of urethane.

If a ball is shorter or longer, flies higher or lower, reacts differently in the short game...how does one know that difference is because of "GRN41" versus being different dimples or different thickness of the layers versus different pain versus any other of the dozens of details that go into a ball?

I agree with OP about the advertising, also hard to justify the price for a ball that for me and my swing is very similar to the Pro V1. Recently though I have switched over to the Mizuno RB Tour ball and have found it to be pretty amazing as well. Only issue I have with it is wedges tear it up and its basically done after 9 holes.

I tried a sleeve of RB Tour X and it was a perfectly fine urethane ball. But for me the durability, as you found, was abysmal. Haven't seen a ball so easily bruise or scraped in years. And the price is within a few cents a ball of Pro V1x prices. Hard to see the Mizuno as a value proposition.
