Langer anchoring ??

Just watched the Snr British Open broadcast. It gave a couple of good close-up views of Bernhard Langer putting on 17 & 18 of the final round. Looked to me pretty clear that he had his left forearm anchored against his chest. His method is quite different from Scott McCarron, who keeps his left arm away from his body. I really can't see any difference between what Langer was doing on 17 & 18, and the way he putted before the anchoring ban. Can't understand why he hasn't been spoken to by USGA / R&A. Can't understand how he gets away with it.

While I know the Care Factor on this is way lower than it really should be, I also thought that this upper left hand/wrist was fully anchored. He'll likely say it was touching his clothing and nothing more but he had that hand pinned against himself.

I noticed this when watching and his last putt on 18 I saw clearly that he wasn't anchoring. His thumb was brushing his shirt if anything but definitely no anchoring.

 

He's one hell of a player.

If he isn’t, he is so close to it that you can’t tell, which means it shouldn’t be allowed. He has lost a lot of respect from me because of this putting method that he uses.

He's clearly not anchoring I watched a lot of the coverage and during the actual stroke, practice strokes may be different, there is definitively no anchor.

When I was watching, on one hole there was a very good camera angle to see whether he was touching and it was clear that his hand was away from his chest and he was not anchoring. I think this is a dead issue.

It’s not just the hand or thumb. The wrist is what to watch .

It sure looks like some part of his left arm/wrist/hand is touching his chest. It’s shameful they let him do this.

His hand and the end of the putter are definitely not anchored, but as mentioned, it really looks like his forearm is held against his chest. All he has to say is “it’s touching my shirt and nothing else” and it’s allowed though I guess.

This has been rehashed every couple of months. Langer worked with USGA officials to verify what he was doing was legal. He continues to putt the same way. Get over it.

Just get over him cheating because the USGA wants to look the other way. Sure ...
