COBRA L4V - The BOMB!!!!

I just got my L4V X with a PL Red shaft :good: and can't wait to take it for a test drive. Received it at 45.5" and cut it down to 44.5"... the same length as my FT5 that has the PL Blue. Will report back the the results as soon as I can.

Anyone try a Aldila VS Proto in this thing? I have been hitting the Protopype 60 in it for awhile and its ok but dosent just blow my socks off...I have the VS Proto 80 in my 13.5 906F4 and I KILL this thing...was thinking about putting in a VS Proto 60 in this baby...thoughts?

 

:cheesy: it works very well in this head. Mine is a VS Proto 65 x and I play mine at 44.5". The combo is definitely high launching but not so much that it balloons. High launch, low spin is a great combo :good:

I finally got to take the L4V onto the course and WOW! :cheesy:

 

All I could do for the last couple of months is hit off the rubber tees on the driving range mats...I was getting good results but really hard to tell what was going on...I have a X and an F...

 

The club was loud on the driving range but much, much more muted when on the course in a more open area...The F bombs it out there and I was really surprised...just had to play with the tee height and voila stupid long!!! Now to the "sort of" part...

 

I had an X and traded it since the F generally had a better flight but now that I have gotten this beast out on the course I do tend to hit the F a little high (I play in windy conditions so this might be a problem) but it does penetrate...now I wish I had hung onto the X until I had a chance to take it from the range to the course! :good:

 

At any rate I will reshaft the F with an Epic I have coming and cut it down to 44.5" and see that does...this is great club!! Now I have to figure out what to do with the other drivers I have sitting around...anyone looking for an MP600, D2 or 4dx just PM me!! :cheesy:

Finally had a chance to hit my l4Vx/ Epic Tour 75x combo this past weekend at the range (course opened that day and was a soggy mess, so just the range for me.) Very straight with a fade at the end. High launch. Carried a long way. Had about a 15 MPH wind in my face and the balls were limited flight, so I am eager to see what it can do with "real" golfballs. Liked the fact the left side seemed to be out of play (my miss.)

More snow this weekend. :good: Hoping next week I get to play a round (finally.)

This thread is INSANE!! Would you believe the courses are not really even open yet here? HIGHS for Fri and Sat are only 39 with a chance of SNOW!!! I wish I could get a chance to hit this bomber.

Played absolutely terrible today. The only bright thing about the round was the 4 times I was able to hit the L4V (played a stupid course that takes driver out of your hand). By number 15 (420 yard par 4) I was pretty pissed with the way I had been playing. I told my playing partner I was going to go after this one with almost everything I had. He hit one right at 250, which is his average. I out drove him by exactly 102 yards. This thing isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I tried an F at the local GolfSmith and it looked square to my eye. I hate a closed driver and the F looked fine to me.

Every one I've seen sits square although it still may be draw biased still. I think the lofts may be higher than stated also for people that think they need a 10* but really need a 12* as an example.

How does this Cobra compare to my current D-1 ? I was told the s flex on the F is not that stiff . I fall between R and S flex .

I've been playing one with an aftermarket VS Proto 60 X at 44.75". Its very nice. Definitely the longest driver I've hit. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, I'm playing Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio. #8 is a tricky, ever so slightly dogleg (more a 15 yard bend), that only plays 309 from the back tees. I figure I'll give it a go and try to run one up into the bunkers. I fly the green and hit the backside, and the thing goes 380. Caddy says he's never seen anyone be where I was. It didn't end up in a great spot, but still it flew 320.

 

Before this driver, I hit it out there about 285. Now I am consistently getting 295 and a lot straighter.

I purchased a new Nike 5900. Was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago. UPS says it's lost, yet delivers it today anyway... miraculous. Sounds great right? WRONG! It arrives in 5 pieces!! Shaft snapped at the hozzel, and in 3 places along the shaft.

 

I'll find out tomorrow just what UPS is going to do for me. I vented (see: "screamed at") a service manager at UPS for over a hour.

 

I might just have them reimburse me and buy the L4V... I think the golf Gods want it that way. :russian_roulette:

Well it's so easy to hit it'd have to be there. Cobra has also maxed out everything, MOI etc that wreaks of max GI. Of course anyone can use it. The TP Burner is classed as Tour yet i find it could easily fit in GI or even MGI.

I mean if the F is closed OR square and the X is always square why would someone take the risk buying the F ?

Other than that (and the color) F and X are identical arent they ?

I have 10* F...X only comes in 9*

and even though the F sits square to my eye, it's supposed to have a slight draw bias from internal weighting and X is setup nuetral.

Ask me that in a month or so - .... I KNOW why ... and it's all good ... Just a matter of getting it right for THEIR needs. When I get the OK I will post some details of the big guns notes from hitting L4.

Just hit my L4VX with and Epic 68x on Tuesday for the first time on the range. It has replaced a 905R/V2 which I hit very well. Many thanks to Robo for pointing me in the direction of the Epic. I would tell you more about it but today is Friday and I am still speechless. I guess if I had to put it in words, I feel like a kid who just got his first bike.
