I would suggest the true OG's are the guys/gals who helped push the jumbo driver revolution.  Those who jumped on the Integra 400, the Integra or Bang 450, and so on.

The OEMs were slow to adapt to driver size capability, until the components/foundries showed what could be done.

Sorry for the brief derail.  🙂

Did I mention how much I love the sound of this Bomber!! If you want to scare the hell out of peeps, hit a srixon xv!! On the other hand, hit a supersoft and it's quite tame sounding. More range sessions and I just can't believe how forgiving this thing is. I keep swinging harder and harder, and the ball launches the same and on the same line over and over again.

The Adam’s 9015d was an absolute cannon. I never owned one but I remember having a used one with an Oban Devotion sitting in the shop and I would absolutely blister that thing on the TrackMan. That club got me on Adam’s hybrids and long drive heads. The 9032LD was the longest head I’ve ever owned hands down. L4V still might take the cake for favorite though. The whole face was the sweet spot.

I opened this thread as I saw it was 15 years old and thought “huh, I think I owned that club”.  It’s been so long but I do remember owning a Cobra L4V.  I recall it being very loud too but I really remember what stood out to me was the recessed crown areas with the ridge down the middle.  Good driver and the last in my bag before I took a golf hiatus from 2007-2014.

Lol, you’re not trying to minimize the piercing sound of the L4V are you, ha?? It is mind-bogglingly loud.  I still have a few L4V combos in the basement. Also still have the fiberfill that I was planning on using to quiet them down, but never did.  Maybe I’ll take one out on the course if I get the chance this off-season—on an empty course that is…. My game has advanced quite a bit since I started testing the L4V out many moons ago—curious to see what it does for me now.

I continue to struggle with the "why". Why doesn't everyone use this driver, every trip to the range, is a Bomb fest! It goes exactly where I want it to go, and the feel is sublime. I know, I know, the new technology, blah blah blah. 50-ish bucks for a Bomber down the middle, hence, wedges into every green, or 500 bucks for a Bomber down the middle, and wedges into the green.??

So, I believe I have found the perfect ball to pair with this monster of a Head .(At least for me ✌️) the maxfli straight fli. I know it's a cheap priced 2 piece Ball, but,  I mean, really? The L4V already was cannon straight, but with this ball, I can't swing hard enough! And the trajectory is high initial launch, then flattens out and carries forever with low spin. I tell you, When you know, really know, that it's not "if" you can hit a fairway, but how far down you can split that son of a b****, it transforms your game from hope, to kill kill kill. With this head/ ball combo, there is no tree lined fairway that I can't Circumvent, (in other words, there are no trees)btw, I just picked up another L4V from a member here,(Awesome to deal with👍) if anyone has a left hand L4V in their basement, please contact me!!

Have a L4V F 10 with Xcon 6, super straight and tons of carry but no roll.  Picked up a L4v F 9, and am looking for for a PYPE 60S but no luck.  What is similar to PYPE out there? TIA

If you were looking for just a stiff pype you could go with a regular NV in X, maybe tip it a half inch

There’s an older guy I play with that just put an old Cobra 400cc driver back in the bag and he’s loving it compared to his Cleveland HB. He asked me to sell his Cleveland and get him another Cobra that is not as old.
So due to this thread… an L4V F 10* is in the mail!

Sooooo, I have a confession to make. Because I'm a Moron, I purchased a newer driver, that I thought (based on "the numbers" should be far superior than the lowly 2007 L4V. So to the range I go, to " Dial in the new Driver. Meh........ 3 sessions later, I'm hitting the new Driver great 👍!! 💪👍, then, for craps and giggles, I pull the L4V.......... Um... So we have completed the Moron circle, 1st swing and Darth Vader's light Saber is a Bomb that crushes the Best from the new Driver. Not even close. So, BOOM, I have an Epiphany, there is No "dialing in"  the L4V. Swing as hard as you can and Nut it every time without thought. I formally apologize to the GOAT of Drivers for my transgression. Never again Bomber, Never again 😞

I was playing with a guy last year. He pulls out his driver on the first tee and hits his shot. I’m looking at the driver and I’m listening to the sound and I’m saying to myself no way, it can’t possibly be. So I ask him, is that an L4V?  He was shocked. He said in the 15 or so years he’s played the club, no one has ever asked or even heard of it.  He asked how I knew.  I told him his driver is a legend on GolfWrx and sent him this link.

Since the thread is still going… The old man put the driver in play and is hitting it great. If someone struggle with contact and consistency, this thing is amazing due to the giant forgiving face.
