Nashville Golf & Athletic or Vanderbilt Legends Club

Ahhhh, I play there all the time. gorya. Thanks. Little Course at Conner Lane. Used to be Little Course at aspen grove.

I practice there a lot. Hit balls, practice putting green and chipping area. Problem is Belmont uses it too, mens and women's programs, so it gets kinda crowded after school. I'm sure Belmont dreams of being Vandy....staring out across the range looking at Vandy getting all the Legends accommodations while they get the par 3 course.

I'm moving from Pennsylvania to Nashville in June (25y/o, single guy, 8hc, working in tech). I'm leaning towards Legends for a variety of reasons. How hard is it to get into a weekly league and to play in tournaments (Specifically member guest and member/member). My current club has some cool policies that allow younger memberships chances to play in these, but I know friends in Philadelphia that are on a 10yr waiting list to play in their clubs 3day member guest. Any insight is appreciated!

I joined at the end of February. It’s nowhere near $350, single is $550 and family is like $670. Also, initiation was $8k no matter if I knew a member or not. I am loving it. Friendly staff and friendly members so far. Everyone has been very supportive of my kids being out there with me too. Great club with typical excellent conditions on all three courses.

Loving it, the courses are in great shape already and the growing season for zoysia hasn't even taken off all the way yet! I really love the practice facilities, hands down, some of the best around. I've found the staff are very friendly and helpful, that's something I honestly didn't know what to expect going in. The other thing I like is the range is very rarely closed for anything. I was out there a couple of days ago with my son for a lesson and it was raining pretty hard. There were people on the range practicing in the rain. So far the best golf decision I've made. The only thing I can't comment on is any of the regular groups or games, I haven't really gotten engaged at that level yet because of all the golf I play with my sons.

are there a lot of younger member at Legends? my perception is no. im sure there are some, but every time i play there, its most 50s and up.....i play out there a few times a year via invites or tourneys. i live in the area. if i was single, id join. but 2 kids and mortgage make me feel my time is not now.

I'm 38 and enjoy playing out there and hope one day can join a place but choosing a wife and kids has definitely changed my golf game. 14 and 8 year olds in the house. Once college is paid for (if I'm still alive) I'll join.

keep wanting to join a Greystone or Gaylord but I live in Franklin and just not convenient enough for as much as like to practice.

i live close to the Grove and Troubadour. Neither are affordable. I think you have to have a lot to join either.

Gaylord doesn't appeal to me at all. Practice facilities are no good imo, plus it's public and tons of people play out there.

Troubadour you have to buy discovery land which starts at 900k, then 100k entry, and 1000/mo. The Grove I think you have to be on their property or something like that. I think it's over 100k as well. Greystone is too far for me as well (42 miles). Legends is 21 miles.

Gaylord is one of the nicest public courses around but to join is very affordable. That's the only reason i mentioned it. My office (in which I'm never at) is over in that direction and seems convenient the 10 days a year i work from there. Too many tourneys out there tho. Although that will start me down my rant on public golf in middle Tennessee. I love Greystone, played there yesterday. But for me to hop on 840 takes me a solid 50 min to get there. I'm not doing that multiple times a week.

I live between the Grove and Troubadour so Uber convenient just the cost. Yowzers.

I live 20 min from Legends.

I’m 43 with a 13, 9, and 8 year old. I’ve seen a pretty good mix of guys ranging in ages. I’ve met Darrel Waltrip and Kevin Stallings (both older guys) and actually played a few holes with Beau Brinkley, the long snapper for the Titans (he’s 30 I think). Dude can hit it a mile and is a solid golfer. Are there a lot of older guys? Sure, but there are a lot of guys from late 20’s to 50 that can play. I also see a lot of young kids out there practicing which I love to see as someone with two boys that work at the game.

Trubador you have to own land. The Grove you can join, but the monthly dues are $800+ and initiation is north of $20k I believe.

Nashville area golf is extremely frustrating. You either pay a ridiculous amount of money to join a private club or fight the masses and traffic on public courses. I still think Gaylord for the money is the best membership deal in the area at ~$250 a month. I know they have a lot of tournaments but I've never played there and seen it swamped with players either.

Twelve Stones has their range and short game area back up. Not sure what it is like as it also has been a few years since I have done more than just driven by it. Seem to think it was a short range but I could be wrong.

Legacy in Springfield has a an adequate range. Putting green but no short game area.

you are correct. its 12 months from whenever you sign up.

I haven't been out there since they closed one of the 9s ....well, haven't been out there yet, this year. typically the course is in great shape. like you and I mentioned, lots of tourneys, but on other days its never packed. probably because its fairly expensive for casual golf. to me, its the best deal going as far as course conditions and price. is Legends better? of course.

what updates did they make? re-do the greens?

It's a public in Goodlettsville. It took an absolute beating before and after the 2010 flood. There are some holes along a creek that got damaged. Conditions as a whole took a nose dive. Those owners sold it and the new folks are putting some money into it to get it back into shape. I follow them on the book of faces and see the updates now and again as they bring things back on line or make improvements. I know they worked on the range and were not far from opening the short game area. Not sure what that consists of though.

It does wind through houses for the bulk of the holes. And there are maybe three holes that are clunkers in terms of design.

Pretty convenient to get to off of 65.
