For you better players... What's the toughest shot when under pressure in a tourney?

Thats interesting buddy. I've loosely followed your posts for years and am surprised to hear driver is an issue under pressure.

I've got a little greasy slap cut I can lean on off the tee under pressure. Its obviously shorter and uglier but I am above average length and its usually a safe shot that puts me in the range of most golfers anyways.

I was thinking to myself that the guys saying tight wedge (me) or "finessy style short shot" or downhill breaker are all really talking about a similar type of shot on a basic level. The softer than usual touch shot when the hands are sweaty, the heart rate is up the grip gets tense, the moment is big etc.

I'm totally fine swinging as hard as I can at a driver in a tournament. I went Driver-9 iron on a par five on the final hole of my club championship this year. I have a one way miss and can aim down the right edge and cut it hard.

Bunker shots which are sloping down to a green with a severe downslope. It’s not simply enough to get the ball out, but getting it to stop is nearly impossible if the greens have any speed to them. Worse if it’s an island style Par 3 and long is water as many a course in Florida have.

It’s a shot you are better left being lucky than good. That said, this is one of those specialty shots a 64 really comes in handy.

I play a pretty big draw, and i have trouble trusting it under pressure. In casual rounds i just do it without thinking , and honestly i'm probably one of the best drivers of the ball in my club. But when i'm feeling it a bit i just struggle as i don't want to aim where i need to, or i do it and take my head up and weakly push it....in which case the results are awful

I'm working on playing a straighter ball off the tee. (i still hit huge draws with irons)

In my CC i actually drove it pretty well using my new approach

a downhill sloping bunker shot to a green that runs away....is a tough shot in ANY round including a casual Sunday one LOL

Is there any situation where that isn't brutal?
