Protecting Clubs

So does anyone know of a product or have a special method of protecting clubs while they are in the car? I usually just lay them down and make sure nothing is on top of them. Done this a million times. Got to the golf course with my juniors clubs pulled the driver at the first hole and the head was dangling. The shaft broke just above the hosel. Had just gotten the shaft a month or so ago, so now I’m paranoid to not do it again.

Buy a bigger car so it doesn’t happen. But seriously you should always take the driver out of the bag when placing in the car.

also never leave them in the trunk or car on a hot day unless you like seeing your club heads fly though the air. Some expoxy doesn’t hold up to heat well.

I don’t often leave my sticks in the vehicle. That said, to and from courses...nothing lays on top of the golf bags. I have had the problem you’ve described, but not in a long time since I stopped piling anything on the bags at all.

I just put my junior's bag in the back of the SUV. I make sure to not put anything on top of it. I leave the driver in the bag. I haven't had any heads flying off due to epoxy becoming weak due to heat. I live in NorCal and it does get near 100 in the summer.

Same but in SoCal. I can't remember the last time I took my clubs out of the SUV unless it was to play.

leaving the clubs in the car is a big problem in lots of areas where the temperature never really cools off in the summer. Also not all epoxy used is the same so this is highly dependent on the epoxy that was used in your build. Most OEM builders with standard clubs will probably use a higher temp epoxy and way too much. But if you had a custom club made there is a good chance that the epoxy can break down if you leave them in your car when it above 100 degrees.

I leave the driver in the bag but always make sure nothing is on top and drivers are on the top side. I live in Central Alabama where our heat is brutal and don't leave our clubs in the car. Just be careful with how you are placing the clubs in the car. Sounds like a fluke accident.
