Returning a lost club

the other day we thought one of our guys lost a gap wedge -- we went back and looked - nothing -- asked the guys behind us and the guys behind them.. nothing.. weird , so we go back to playing .. and No we did not hold anyone up there was an empty hole behind us. about 7 holes later one of the guys in our group says who's Gap Wedge?? the Owner had put it in his cart buddies bag.

 

So story is - did you ask your playing partner if you were in a cart -- if it is in his bag?

We were walking. And, as I stated in the post, the group behind us stated that they found the club. They just gave different stories, ranging from "it's on the other cart" to "it was on the cart, but it must have fallen off" to "we left it behind next to a tent for maintenance to pick it up" to "it's still on the tee."

With respect to losing clubs, it's a rare thing for me. My original posting was an unusual situation where I took a club into the woods to find a lost ball and I mistakenly left it there. I can't recall ever losing a club on a green - I always leave my wedges on the green between the hole and the cart where you can't miss it. In terms of my son losing his hybrid, he had it coming. He just started playing a year and a half ago, and I'm just a nag giving him advice about slow play (parking cart on far side of green, ready golf, etc.) and practical things like club loss avoidance. He leaves his wedge in the rough after he chips. In this case, it was dark, and I think he tossed it down in the long grass when he hit a mulligan with another club.

nothing i like more then returning someone their club and seeing how happy they are when they get it back... and i think most golfers feel the same way.. what a jerk if stolen or not turned in

Ive only been golfing for a few years and have found and returned many clubs already. With my luck its usually on the 3rd hole, and im walking with no groups ahead of me so I get to carry around extra weight.

Ive also found a few late in the day when the clubhouse is closed by the time I return. In that case I just left the club leaning against a side door.

I’ve always been lucky enough to find clubs and returned them to the club house.  
 

today I finally left my 50 wedge behind and of course it’s nowhere to be found 😭 . Karma is mofo , I hope whoever kept it shoots 120 for the rest of their life.
