I don't know how many people are even buying his putters lately. Not saying this in a negative way but I just never see anyone posting them.

It is definitely sourced from China and then customized in Huntington Beach.

Agreed. Same exact tool path and same flaws in corners.  It’s why I’m guessing earlier in this thread he couldn’t do a centershafted putter without the notch.  Hate people who claim made in America (California in this case) and are obviously lying

Aside from sourcing heads...which many do.  I think the branding or messaging is the issue with sourcing heads.   I don't really even like the shape much.

There is for sure... I agree, the mallet design is not a stunner. Had he been able to draw his own CAD designs and have it milled would still be better than ordering no. 5 off the Chinese menu and calling it yours.

Hashtagging Made in America on every post and handcrafted in Huntington Beach is the problem. He’s flat out lying. Guys like Pirretti don’t lie about where their heads are sourced from.  Also there’s a difference between designing a head and outsourcing production vs buying a blank catalog head from China and hand stamping or laser engraving it

That's a bit unfortunate. Will ruin his brand. I like that 7 shape. I may order the ones from China, haha.

Probably won’t affect it much because he will likely delete any comment about it and he’s not a big enough entity for it to generate a bunch attention.  The average consumer isn’t super well informed about who does things in house, who outsources production, and who is just using catalog heads from overseas.

That is a bummer. I presume it is much harder to get mallet heads going than blades?

 

Pretty sure we've seen pics in the past of his own mill working on blades, right?

He has videos of blades being milled on his Instagram but haven't seen mallets.

Who knows for sure, but I suspect that this may be a result of trying to grow too fast / serve mallet demand when he really only had the infrastructure and knowledge to make his own blades. 

 

At least I believe (or want to believe) that the blades were all made by him "in-house", it certainly seemed that way back when I got a custom blade from him in 2020.

Exactly unless something goes into his shop and sees a CNC there running with a putter in it can only assume and hope.

 

But there's one thing to outsource milling it's another to claim it was made in house. Will see no real hate from me just possible disappointment.

Well the latest discussion here dampens the excitement a bit, but I just received my Truxton S.  Haven’t had it out yet, but carpet rolls have been great.  
 

Pleased with the putter, but will say the experience has be nowhere near as fun as with other makers I’ve worked with.

Ha! It’s nothing scandalous at all, just never actually talked to Brandon in any form, no update pictures, no timeline or “hey we’re making this now”.  Just submitted the form corresponded with one of the reps (who was super helpful and responsive) then about 10ish weeks later got a shipping notification email from UPS and then the putter arrived.  The unboxing without really knowing what was in there was kind of cool.  My form was a few specs and must haves and then makers choice after that.  The putter also didn’t have the upgraded grip I had ordered, which was an up charge.  They quickly refunded once I emailed (again rep was very responsive) and said that they had discontinued that grip due to quality issues.

 

Just overall didn’t seem very concierge given the cost.  Especially compared to experience with Josey, LaMont and Legend.

That's fair definitely fun seeing the putter throughout the process and no updates when you drop good money is crazy. Doesn't sound like an awful experience but does sound like you've had better.

Putter looks awesome..  I have said many times, I love his stamping and finishing. It's very unique to his putters.  You can just see his stamping and know it's his work.   Overall you should roll that baby happily.

About a year ago I was looking to grab a new stick....I inquired via email with BM.  I had asked what the starting price is. They said builds start at $750.  I began the process and build sheet, sent over what I wanted, which was very basic (no premium finish, builders choice in stamping, and I believe a single or double bend shaft - so no complicated neck work), and I received a quote of $950. 

 

I remember asking, what was the extra $200 for? And there was no answer haha. My guess is nothing was ever $750 through them.  I also remember every email ended with them saying spots were filling up, did I want to send a deposit now?   The last email in our convo was them offering an already built truxton, not built to my specs, for about 1k. 

 

I do feel for  the experience @WiscoLefty
