Yeah. I’ve also noticed there are other boutique putter makers that seem to exclusively do welded necks. I’m not opposed to the welded necks, but I do slightly prefer a non-welded piece. I’m no putter milling/crafting expert, but is it easier to do them separately with all of the unique flow and twist necks that people want?

What putter makers don’t weld the neck on them? Legitimate question, and always windered if anyone did that. Thanks!

Whoa! That’s really cool. Always figured it wasted too much metal to mill it all as one piece. Great looking flatstick!

@1puttTUT that looks fantastic, reminded me I meant to do a review on mine that I ordered this summer.

No2 303SS/345G 35” with the stainless mist finish. Ordered July 14, received first week of September. Took longer than initially expected but not longer than I’d be fine with if that was the anticipated timeline expressed at the time of order.

Putter looks exactly like what I wanted from my first design with him and I plan on doing more in the future. Rolls extremely well and contact feels very pure.

Headcover is awesome too although it’d be more awesome if it just came with the putters instead of being 50% off if you get a putter.

Shipped him the grip I wanted when I placed my order and it was installed without issue. I was worried after that long the grip may have gotten lost in the shuffle in his shop so I’m happy my worries were for nothing.

Any idea what price point his putters start at?

Also, are the headcovers offered in any other colors besides brown?

Last time I checked it said customs were starting at $600 but that's no longer on his page unless price is changing again.

How long ago was that? I remember his prices being around there then I checked again and saw they went up to $600. Kinda curious if they're going up again.

I can’t remember exactly when I bought it, probably around March-ish because everything was shut down for C19.

It was a great price then.

There’s a nice, somewhat muted click when the contact is pure(barely feels like you hit the ball, but not soft like the Cameron’s I have with inserts) and a noticeable louder click if the contact is off. On top of the feel in the hands, the audible feedback on contact is great.

Also for the other questions here: mine was 650 with the cover, which for now only comes in brown leather but he’s been getting into the ball marker realm and I’m sure more cover options will follow.

I ordered a putter from Brandon a few months back. I was very specific with my design request and was told they were able to build it the way I wanted. It took about twice as long as the initial order stated, which wasn’t a big deal to me. When the putter arrived I was super disappointed. The putter was not the way I had designed it and came in over 8 grams light. I emailed and got a quick response stating the person that took my order made a mistake and he was too busy to do the extra design work to make what I wanted. He did offer to make me a new one at the correct weight, but not the design I clearly was after. Pretty poor experience for me.

Wow that was way off, so what did you do? Get a refund or a new putter?

Neither. He offered to make another one in the correct weight, but there was a very specific design that I wanted and he said he didn’t have the time to do the additional design work. Oh well...back to the drawing board.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was the very specific design? I know when I had my Mack Made built, I asked Josey if he could do a raised toe. He said he could, but he’d need to make a new vice, or something like that, which would have required a lot more time, work, and money. If something like that was overlooked up front by Brandon, maybe his original quote was too low because he thought he was just tweaking an already-milled piece. This has now officially piqued my interest...

Kind of makes me want to pull my head to weigh it and see if mine is off too. I'm ok with the weight of my head btw but it's something that I've never actually considered.

I’m thinking the same thing now, don’t figure I’ll actually pull the head just because I don’t want to put that effort in but I’m curious.

I normally weigh the entire putter, research the grip weight, and estimate the shaft weight based on length and type. After you subtract out the grip and shaft, you’ll at least get a ballpark estimate on head weight.

I’m pretty sure almost all of TP Mills’ Nellie Wings heads weigh about 361 grams. The total weight of mine is 535g. The grip reportedly weighs 75g and each inch of steel shaft weighs about 3.2g. On my putter, there’s about 31.25 inches of actual steel shaft attached to the plumbers neck, or about 100g. So, the grip and shaft weight an estimated 175g. Therefore, the head would weigh 360g. That’s only 1g off from the typical 361g. Obviously, pulling the head and weighing is the way to go, but at least you can get an idea without the effort.

I had requested a center shaft, but I wanted the area where the plumbers neck normally dips down to be flat with the rest of the top line. Hopefully that makes sense.

Totally. Like this:

image.png.24f144baa422bd99e5a3b5bfd5a87e0d.png

To be fair, Mack Made has other center shafts that are flat, so I assume this customer wanted it like this. I see other center shafts with that “dipped” area left as-is because that’s how the head was set up to be milled. I too would not want that “dip” in there if I had a center shaft. Bummer.

I’ve also seen some center shaft putters for sale with a hole where the plumbers neck would be. Like this:

That’s even more ridiculous looking IMO.

To determine head weight, there is no reason to remove a putter head from a shaft. Using finished length of the putter, grip weight (which is provided by the grip manufacturer), and the swing weight of the putter, the head weight of the putter can be determined.

What’s the formula for that? If you’re balancing the forces on both sides of the fulcrum, don’t you also need to know the weight of the shaft on both sides of the fulcrum?

I totally agree. I have a Scotty 009 that is the exact way I wanted Brandon to build it. Even included pictures. The problem with my 009 is it’s 330 grams and beached.
