I don’t have any experience with the fairway woods (yet), but this guy says go for it!

Ive been eyeing the fixed hosel pro three wood model... they will work with you on finding the right head (I was looking for one that sat open and was lower loft)... just a heads up!

on turf interaction, I’ve never had a problem with a club interacting poorly with the ground, even when taking divots. These work as well as my adams cmb or Taylor made burners from 96.

Yeah, get on the phone with Jason. He will make it happen. He's fun to talk to and will walk you through shaft options as well... They have some options not shown on the website if you want to get weird with it. Great company.

UPDATE

Well it's been almost a month since I last posted an update. I've played 9 rounds with the 639's in the bag since that last update and it's official........the Sub70's have kicked the Tour B's out of the bag. For the foreseeable future, these babies are staying put. Don't believe me? Just peep the signature and pics below....if that's not official, I don't know what is, haha.

There's really nothing new or different to report - the solid performance I've been getting out of them has continued every time I've made a good swing. And that's really what it comes down to....the forgiveness factor is really negligible between irons in this category IMO. It's not like I've lost any forgiveness from my Bridgestones to the Sub70's and that's all I can ask for in that regard. But the way shots now feel when I make good swings is what I've grown accustomed to. It's just the softest feeling I've ever experienced with an iron but without being anywhere near something I'd describe as "mushy". The sound is noticeably different. My buddy I play most rounds with even noted after I thinned one that he was amazed that even when I barely hit the bottom of the face it still has this distinct softness in the sound.

I can't overlook how much the shift from the $-Taper 120's to $-Taper 100's has helped get me making better swings with my irons, which ultimately has helped me provide the best and most accurate feedback because it's based on a larger sample of quality shots (well, at least way more than what I had been producing prior to the change). At the risk of sounding borderline extreme, EVERYTHING about this setup just feels better. It feels better in my hands when I'm setting up and it feels better in the middle of swing. It's 100% still up to me to make a halfway decent swing but when I am, I'm loving the way that feels as well.

One thing I'm willing to admit though - my ability to hit quality shots with a 4 iron just isn't what it once was. It's still there here and there, but it's a lot more work than it used to be if that makes any sense. But that's ok because for one, it's not a club that I often find myself at an appropriate yardage for, but also.....because now I get to experiment with more Sub70 goodness As we speak I'm looking at some options on their site and getting ready to contact Jason about a replacement for that spot in my bag in the way of either a utility iron or possibly a slightly more forgiving model (699 maybe?) with a graphite shaft. Now that these irons have earned their spot, there's just no way I CAN'T check out more of what these guys have to offer.

I'll just leave with one more expression of thanks to both Sub70 and GolfWRX for making this happen. I'm hopeful that my experience I've been able to report will help some people out there give thought to trying out what Sub70 has to offer. No matter what your opinion of the equipment, I can guarantee you one thing - you'll be hard pressed to find me another golf company out there that's willing to provide you the level of service and attention these guys do. Maybe that's not a big deal to some people. It is to me, that's for sure. If anyone has any questions or anything I'll certainly respond with whatever I can!

Thanks again guys. If anyone has any questions or needs anything just let me know. And if you have equipment/fitting questions definitely reach out to Jason at 815-621-3556 or [email protected] Thanks!

Howdy Jason,

I've searched the sub 70 site and cannot find any data on hosel diameter. Are all the irons a uniform diameter or does this differ by the model?

As one who generally builds their own clubs this info would be handy. Please advice

Hey guys thanks for the feedback! My name is Jay, not to be confused with our CEO Jason, and I handle a lot of our marketing efforts. I'm a long time WRX'r myself so I was excited to put together some testing here. If you ever have any questions or need anything please feel free to comment here or message me directly.

I can definitely say I've never seen a ding like that on the face of a 639 iron. They're definitely soft but something must've been perfectly compressed right there...sadly it sounds like it wasn't the golf ball on that particular shot haha. I'm sure we'll get it taken care of for you.

Anyway I hope you're enjoying the clubs. Play well and have fun!

Hi Jay,

I am considering either the 639 cb or 699 pro iron set. Is there a significant difference in head size and forgiveness between the two? I don’t have the chance to compare side by side.

I just called CS but they are closed already.

thanks
