Is Troon North a *must play*? And when will they lower their prices below $124?

the headline says it all. Pretty damn annoying that they haven't dropped their prices much, despite a very open tee time.

I love my WeKoPa summer pass.

Is Troon North (either track) remotely a "bucket list course"? Or merely a very nice place?

Pinnacle is significantly better than Cholla and my second favorite public course in the area behind Saguaro. The back 9 of Monument has the best 6 hole stretch on the property too. Overall I’d say yes but I am not surprised they haven’t dropped pricing. They get as much traffic as they want. I regularly drive by there when I go anywhere north or west of my house and the parking lot seems pretty full.

They strangely had a single tee time on golfnow today for $33. But only for one time slot, at 1:40p. And now it's gone. So either a single scooped it up, or it was a computer glitch.

 

Anyone thnk that they'll drop their prices to the $60ish range in July or August? Or probably not?

Interesting thought. For my perspective it has seemed this year got unseasonably hot earlier than normal. Your range is also suspect since the average high temperature in scottsdale in June is 103. 110 is more rare than we desert dwellers think. Looking at the weather calendar since May 31 it looks like 12 days above the average and 7 days below. Hard to imagine that would be the driver. There was one brilliantly cool weekend in there, not sure that should be steering a top end course.

Troon North is around 100' lower elevation than my house. It maybe gets above 105* at my house 10 days/year. Maybe. It is extremely rare for it to happen but if it does it is almost always the end of June and Troon North would, at most, have a handful more of days than we do. FWIW, this is the latest we've cracked 100* in many years.

That said, don't think it has anything to do with Troon North's pricing. They have plenty of people playing.

Just buy the summer Troon card for 100/150 and use the 2 for 1 on it. You will make your money back in no time.

Pinnacle is in the tops of my favorite courses in AZ. It's too bad it's closed right now. I played end of May at Monument for $79 came back two days later and the pro shop guy recognized me and tossed me 25% off just because. Always thought they had a top notch staff. Their restaurant has been closed and a fire knocked out their power and did a little damage. They are usually lower priced by this time, but they have to be losing a lot of money this season all things considered.

I played Troon North in December and the greens were like the Moon's surface. Terrible. I much preferred Grayhawk (Raptor).

 

I will never play Troon North again (unless it's free).

I feel like prices have stayed up in the summer months the past few years compared to the where they once would be.

I recall my first trip to the area several years ago and playing Grayhawk Raptor for $59 (morning prime time) including a lunch and beverage at Phil's Grill post round. This is when I fell in love with the open faced pastrami sandwich on a pretzel bun which is no longer. The good ole days.
