Playing partners

well, outside of a scramble, i've only played golf w/ one other person. and even then only three times. (i started playing this past year and live 10 min. away from a deserted public course.)
just the very idea of a group is odd. all i do is just show up and pay my $5 to walk nine and get on my way.

but what i can tell you is how much i hate the constant cell phone talker 3 holes away!
JUST TURN IT OFF AND LEAVE IT IN THE CAR!!! UUUUUURRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

I hate playing with know it all guys. You know the type of guys who tell you all about your equipment and that you are leaving yards on the table with your current shaft. You know the type they usually play candy lime shafts and can't hit it of their shadow. They think they are experts and they have all the latest and greatest shafts and tour heads even though it doesn't help their game (they really only care that they spent all kinds of money on their bag). Then they talk to you like they are insiders to the golf industry, though they are basically lemmings.

 

 

I was paired with this exact guy last fall. My future brother in law was in town and so we decided to play a round. I hadn't played all season, and it had been 3 years since I left the club I belonged to, so this was just about playing a round of golf. This guy and his wife were paired with us, and the wife was very nice. The husband...well, let's see here, he started out with how he was a proponent of Natural Golf, and how this really was the only way to swing the club. That was on the first tee. By the time we were in the first fairway, he was telling us about how he built his own clubs, and his wife's. Of course, he had to be careful because he wanted the swingweight to remain at D4, and wen played around with this, and tweaked that.... I understood what he was talking about, but really had no interest(by BIL was trying to find beer to deal with this). Mercifully, we ended up having to leave after 13 holes, since play was so slow and we were running late. That poor woman though....
