Stroke Lab shaft

Sorry if this isn't the right section....

 

I need to shorten a stroke lab shaft about an inch... Instead of cutting grip end and messing with weight, how much can I cut off the bottom before the size of the shaft changes?  Or are there other issues I need to be concerned with when doing this?  Thanks

I can't speak to the bottom as I have the v-line slant version, but I was able to successfully shorten mine from the butt end.  I cut off the grip and carefully the torched the end near the weight.  You don't have to worry about messing up the end of the grip because you're going to cut if off anyway.  It was pretty easy to pull out the weight using a pair of pliers.  I then cut off an inch, reinstalled the weight with epoxy, and installed the grip as usual.  I was worried about the weight change, but I can't tell the difference.

I did the same thing except the shaft was fine.  Pulled the grip off and applied a heat gun to the end of the shaft with the weight and used piers to pull it out.  Came out easy with just 30 seconds or so of heat.  Cut the shaft and re epoxy the weight into the shaft.

I shortened an Atlanta today from 35” to 34”. I was worried about the swing-weight being too low because of shortening and replacing the stock 75g grip with a 90g grip. In order to keep it a bit higher I sawed 10g off the 30g back-weight. The putter was E2 when I started and is now D4.

I had a stroke lab black putter and the weight in the butt end on the latest models in no longer epoxied in. The weight had a rubber oring then was just pushed into the end of the shaft it pulled out with pliers easily.

Thanks for the help guys.  Got 2 shafts cut down tonight... Both had plugs epoxied in but only took 15-20 seconds and they came right out.  Cut the shafts and put them back in.  Everything is good.  

 

I put one of the weights in a scale and it was ~25 grams.  Is this pretty standard?  I'm going to try the shorter shaft for a week or so but I'm thinking I might put a SS grip on with a heavier weight... Worked well in my previous putter
