Custom Legacy Goods Putter!!

I wanted to take the time and right a review for a small, newer putter maker. I know there are multiple options, most of which have taken a lot of my money, but I decided to switch it up this time.

 

I was on the search for a unique head shape but being left-handed I feel like everyone make the same putter head shapes. I spent more time than I would like to admit hunting for a putter very similar to a TP Mills Fleetwood (which he does not make left-handed). My search lead me to a small one man shop based out of Littleton, Colorado called Legacy Goods (https://www.legacygoods.com/).

 

 

 

This putter from Jonathan’s Instagram (Legacygoodsltd) got the wheels turning in my mind. I will be completely honest what I was asking from Jonathan for a putter was a lot.

 

Putter Specs:

·         335g Headweight

·         69* lie

·         2.5* loft

·         Carbon Steel (Oil dipped/torched)

·         ¾ Offset

·         Smooth face

·         No stamping/no sightline

·         Move the hosel placement closer to the heel

 

Communication:

I emailed Jonathan on 7/09 with every request that I had above and got a reply immediately saying he able to meet all my request. I want this to be very clear Jonathan’s communication, as a small shop, is top notch. I never waited longer than a day to hear back from he…he kept me fully in the loop with small adjustments we need to make. Super super quick turnaround…putter shipped 07/28!!

Look and Feel:

This putter is absolutely everything that I could have asked for. For one all of his putter come in at 350g which to me is heavy. I asked him if it was possible to create a bullet sole to reach my target weight and he pulled it off great…knocked 15grams off easy. I really cannot put into words how happy I am with this putter which feels amazing. I am just going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

Last thoughts:

I want to apologize I am not the best writer/reviewer. My thoughts are you as a consumer have so many options now when it comes to putters. It is hard to narrow your choice down when it seems like there is a new putter making on Instagram every three days. However, I highly highly recommend Legacy Goods as someone to keep in mind or better yet just start the process and order a putter. He was one of the more accommodating people I have had the pleasure of working with. Not to mention his work is top notch.

This looks really nice. He seems to do good work. I’ll keep my eye on him to see if he starts making other pieces...specifically some sort of unique mid mallet. Sweet stick. ?

Well I’ll bump this old thread.  I found legacy  going through Instagram a month back and realized he was less than 10 minutes from me.  I liked the shapes of a few of his putters I drew up an order form for him.   I definitely requested quite a few engravings and was pretty specific with how I wanted the putter spec’s set up.   

 

I sent the order in late August and had few revisions.  Putter was completed 3 weeks later and exceeded all my expectations.  Ive stayed away from any sort of personalization on my custom putters so far but I said forget it and threw a few in on this one.   First round out was a 27 putt 3 under par round at one of the tougher muni courses in Colorado.  Putter looks and feels fantastic.   Once I received it, I did redo the paint fill and stuck a matte black KBS one step in it.

I saw him making that on his IG story, also a 3 week turn around? Jeeze I know who I'll get a putter from if I'm bored and want something quick.

 

What's his starting price for a putter?

Starting price varies but it wasn’t out of line with what I’ve done with compass.  Cheaper than Byron…

For sure and that's a good deal for that turn around, will definitely look into him as I can only do so many Asner and Anser 2 putters in my collection.

Yeah it was reasonable.   I asked a bunch of him on this one that he had never done before like the milling to match the screw neck on the rear flange.   It turned out really nice.   I’ve had a guy try and buy it off me on the practice green at a tournament last week.

Referred one of buddies and playing partners to Legacy goods for a putter after he rolled mine for a round.  Legacy did an excellent job… buddy is super happy with it.

Had to be face balanced - straight back straight through stroke with damn near zero face rotation.

Definitely knew he was going for that with that neck. 

 

Now he has had a lefty sitting on his page for a while, not quite my layout and spec but close and quite nice. Wonder how desperate he is to sell that...

He did a really good job on the torching, i like the bright stainless neck next to the different purples.

I will say that next to my Artisan - the legacy goods is the best feeling putter I own.   The combo of his milling and the carbon head is amazing - i've made a ton of pressure putts with his equipment.

Maybe I'll shoot him a message just to see a custom cost and get some dialogue going. Probably shouldn't buy another custom now but who knows.
