Driver goes ~230 - 250yds, should I change shaft / ball?

You asked about changing the ball. Getting fitted for a ball can make a big difference as well. 

 

I found my game improved this year in large part because I found a ball that works and have stuck with it. The consistency of playing the same ball every week has made a huge difference for me. 

 

Not sure I picked up much if any distance, but knowing how the ball will fly makes me far more confident on every shot which allows me to swing more freely

In front of every green in regulation.  PGA Tour Pros hit about 12 greens a round.  You are telling us the best way for someone who shoots 80 to shoot par is hit 16-18 really solid 5-8 irons in a row from 230?  That's ridiculously hard.

In 1980 there were  over 30 players below the 250 mark. Mahaffey wasn't long but few were as straight no doubt. Trevino called him '.30-30 cause he was so accurate.The avg. in '80(first yr for keeping record) was 255.
