Agreed. I get your point; I don't know Dru Loves "exact" stats (what he was won as an amateur, was he an all-american?). Theres guys who look like can't-fail and end up not making it on tour or in any pro sports. 

 

I  just think theres a difference between Dru Love, how is basically set for life I sure based on some kind of trust fund, and guys like Zach Johnson who had to sell shares in themselves to fund their way getting to tour. All these guys work hard, sometimes its just getting the breaks. 

 

**But, as they say, "ball don't lie", Maverick McNealy's dad is a billionaire and Maverick is on tour and doing well.

I thought so because Arnold always had a beef with the PGA for some reason I thought it was because his father couldn’t be the pro or something. Oh well  nice to learn something!

Not sure the old man ever played the tour.  Mainly a PGA pro, but he did win on Sr Tour.

Deacon was first superintendent then golf pro at Latrobe. He became the head pro before being a PGA of America member. If I remember right he was unable to become a PGA member because he had polio as a child, which sounds about right for the PGA of America.

Dru Love's college career was not great. One tournament win at Alabama. Dealt with some injuries. His collegiate scoring record in counting events played was pretty indifferent. Greatly benefitted from being DL3's son. Nothing wrong with that.

 

What Zach Johnson has accomplished as a professional golfer is amazing. He will never get enough credit for it. 2 major wins. At Augusta and St. Andrews. Absolute all time grinder. I know some people don't like him for whatever reasons. Those people that don't like him would take his professional career results if offered to them. I wonder how much his gear switch to PXG in 2016 has impacted his game.

His dad won on the Senior Tour the same day as DD won The Players Championship and made world #1 in 1999.

Arnold's dad had a club foot and was not allowed to join the PGA because of that condition.  I don't remember exactly what the wording of the rule was but I suppose that it was similar to the Caucasian only rule.  The PGA has a Deacon Palmer award now so the differences were resolved.
