Around 80mph with 6 iron what shaft are you playing

Demoing clubs has become very difficult this year. I’m looking for some new irons this year and was wondering what you guys with around an 80mph 6 iron are playing. I’ve been using Modus 105 stiff the last couple of years but was considering Project X Lz and Dynamic gold 105 as well. Also considering dropping to R flex seeing that I’m likely on the edge of R/S flex. Just curious at this slow point in the year. I’ll try to demo when I get closer to actually buying something.

Played i95s for quite a bit.  Went back up in weight to help dispersion.  Now playing AMT White Rs.  Have been testing Ss.  Will probably end up migrating to S straight in or soft stepped x1 when/if I change.  I prefer stiffer rather than softer when it comes to bend profiles though, specially on the bottom end.

Dynalite Gold XP.  They are discontinued but still findable.  Additionally, the TT Elevate Tour looks like it is very similar to Dynalite Gold XP.

My pro told me way back to go with the stiff shaft. I told him I was in between. He said learn to hit the stiff. He said, you will know if is too stiff. Not all stiffs are the same. ha He was right and I played with stiff and it has been good.

Now, after 20 years with my X14s which I still love and they look great because of nerd headcovers, I decided to try something new. Mavriks with Elevate95 in regular flex. I sent them back after 3 weeks. They were D3 swingweight and they were long as hell. Almost two clubs longer but the distance was not near as consistent as my short hitting X14s so Now I have an $1100 credit at Callaway. Not sure what to do. But my suggestion is don't go to a regular flex if you are still hitting the stiff well. I'm 65 and staying with my X14s

My fear with going to R flex was my shorter irons. I feel like I sometimes hit the 9,PW and UW too high and it just hangs in the air. I wonder if something similar to the Modus 105 but that could bring the height/spin down in the bottom end of the bag wouldn’t help. Just not sure what would do that?

My 6i speed averages right at 85mph, distance is 175. Using graphite Accra Tour 90i's in my irons. Absolutely love them, very smooth and easy on the joints.

SteelFiber i95 regular here. High 70's 6 iron ss, aggressive transition and moderate tempo.

Very happy. Seem to hold up to harder swings better that Recoil 95 F3

As another data point, I am 79-80 mph w six iron, moderate tempo, and fitted into CTL regular.

I play 37” King Forged Tec OL irons with PX LZ 5.0 shafts.  At 37” my 6i is likely a touch short than yours and has 26 degrees loft.  According to my SkyTrak range sessions I average 73mph SS on fully controlled swings.  
 

On the SkyTrak I believe the algorithm for SS is a calculated value off other measured parameters.  When I hook up the  SkyPro sensor and integrate it to the SkyTrak it typically shows a 4mph to 5mph increase in swing speed which puts me around 77-78mph and I have at least 3-5 mph left in the tank.  
 

I tend to be more of a picker with a short compact swing quick tempo aggressive swing.  Below is a sampling of my data from one of many range sessions hitting the 37” PX LZ 5.0 shafted 6i.  I also include a PW data so you can see the differences I observe between PW and 6i.  Note this is raw data with some bad shot outliers.  I like the LZ shaft but I’m not convinced it’s the perfect shaft for me.  It has been an improvement over the Cobra TT 107g I was playing in F7 OL irons.  The PX LZ actually helped flatten my flight out at the bottom of the bag compared to the Cobra TT 107g.

Go with a stiff that has been "soft stepped" See chart attached.  Gets you right in the middle.
