Alignment issues- tips?

Son, 10, has a tendency to setup left of target. Just has a really hard time “feeling” what correct alignment is. I feel like we’ve tried everything, but it seems to always creep back by kid round. Always practices with alignment rods. Has tried to pick an intermediary target (a spot on target line 18-24” in front of ball), seemingly practice it to no end but Just can’t seem to get it. Appreciate any specific tips or drills that helped your kid (or yourself) with the same issue.

JB Holmes sets up open and he’s done okay.

My kid is left handed and his alignment tends to be left. Just have to continue to enforce alignment rods on the range. When he does it creeps back the other way.

Had the same issue. Agree with the folks above. Alignment rods work.

I also found that drawing Sharpie lines on the ball...aligning Sharpie lines to intended target...and setting toes perpendicular to the Sharpie lines really helped.

However, this doesn't help with fluffing lies...repairing spike marks on green...or the all too common perfect lie coming out of an OB shot though. Really need to watch for those.

My daughter really struggles with this. We were just out on the course 20 minutes ago and her alignment tends to always be left of target. She cuts her driver so it never really hurts, but draws irons, so almost every miss is left. Even worse is if it gets in her head that she is missing left she over corrects and hits pull draws which always seem to be long and run forever.

On the range we put a pool noodle out about 10 yards on an alignment stick and try to hit it. Just focusing on quarter or half swings club face to target. How does the foot alignment feel for this shot? Check out @kiethbennetgolf on Instagram. He has a pretty cool range set up for this.

On the course she is always in a hurry. If I am coaching her I force her to take 10 seconds a minimum of 4 big steps behind the ball to align her target, and imagine the shot shape. 10 seconds seems like an hour to her so when I am not in Dad coach mode. Its ready, fire, aim all the time!

Over last week we've been working on picking an intermediary target to line up to- "Spot" on the ground 12-18" in front of ball. Line the face up, then step into stance. It seems to be helping .....when he takes the time to do it on the course.

Everyone I think already mentioned alignment rods and you said you are using that. I think maturity also helps they just get better with age.

The one thing I have seen that works is to actually hit multiple shots to the same pin. I am guessing you can do this on the range but what has worked for us is to go out when a course is empty and fire at the pins with different lies. You can really dial your clubs if you practice this way.
