Cobra Forged Tec - Copper Version

Recommended Posts

Same thing here. I had 1 range session probably 15 balls or so with the 8 iron. I wrote cobra and they gave me the exact same canned statement. I originally ordered the standard "gray" heads but was told they would not be delivered until July. but I could order copper right now . My one question was" has there been any issues with the wear of the copper" the rep told me "none" Pretty bad customer service in my opinion. Instead of dealing with their issue they send a canned statement and ignore you... Just my 2Cents

Flat out, PVD is going to wear. Like the black P790 or T100. If you're a good ball striker and don't hit it fat you'll get sick wear marks. If you aren't a ball striker people are going to know about it quick. The wear on the hosel is the only one that looked a bit suss to me. They're tools not jewels. If you want something other than chrome/silver that wears well it's their DBM finish but that's only on certain models. In fairness, I've seen some pretty bad sole wearing on the standard satin Forged Tec as well.

I bought forged tec irons with copper coating. IMO freaking good looking irons, I really like them. Also feels good, but after couple of weeks they look like I have already played with them about 10 years. The irons started to lost its coating immediately. Not just from the face or the bottom - everywhere. You can’t even wash them without losing that expensive copper. It feels like I have been cheated.

Sole and face wear wouldn't bother me, the hosel, topline and backs are what does
It shouldn't just rub off that easily.  I have black wedges that have been through way more practice/play than these and the finish has held up much better on the areas I'm seeing the wear on these copper irons.

Completely agree, here. The face and sole is understandable. The top line and hosel wear is ridiculous...and after so few rounds it’s even more concerning. I’m not one to treat my clubs like the Crown Jewels, but you have every right to be upset over this.

I am not a +.0.1 such as yourself  but a 7 HC. not the best ball striker but pretty solid and yes take a nice divot most of the time.. I understand it is going to wear, no problem, just not after 15 shots. The biggest b**** I have is that cobra does not acknowledge that fact, they send a canned statement and pretty much that's it. Plus I specifically asked about the wear before purchasing them....NO problem's says the rep. Anyway was just throwing the info out there in case it was of value to someone who maybe looking at buying these.

Took them 22 days to respond and they only ended up responding because I made a comment on one of their Instagram posts for the irons.  Responded to their email but nothing else has been received.

Also filled out a request to return them but haven't heard anything back.

I do not recommend these irons in this finish.  Wish I went with silver.

Yeah sorry.  Took follow up to get them to reply again.
They will not accept returns for this reason.

Pretty lame.  I'm seeing a lot of comments on their Instagram/Facebook ads for these irons complaining about the finish wear.  You should be able to cancel if they haven't shipped

Ive just cancelled mine thankfully, they had been on order for over 4 weeks but it was going to be another 2 weeks before i got them, i had a look through there social media with these and it doesnt look good, by the look of it they have literally just put a thin layer (very thin) of the copper colour over the standard version, shame they didnt make them raw underneath

UPDATE:   Cobra agreed that the finish on my copper irons was Unsat. They gave me a "one time good deal" I could send them back and get recoated... or get the chrome heads. But absolutely no returns/refund.  I took the chrome heads. However they now tell me that they cannot get the swing weight below 6.5. You cant make this up.. But hey I am getting the chrome heads . Hope this helps anyone having the same issues

I went back to reseller and they agreed that it’s not normal after they discussed with Cobra.. Finally they gave me a change to return the irons to get my money back. Great deal.

Yeah, I finally got my irons back and they had the completely wrong shafts in them.... Unbelievable  !   So I also was able to get a refund... that was several months trying to square this away..  now  the wait time for new clubs seems to be a month + but hey at least I got the refund
