PXG Operator

If you don't buy an operator at the price pxg has them right now ($245) then you're doing yourself a disservice.

For you spider tour guys. If you LOVE the stability and ease of the spider tour but hate the face insert,  the operator is your unicorn. Milled face, more ballspeed off the face, and that spider tour stability.

I thought the blackjack was stable. The operator beats it easily.

I have one of the special edition Darkness Operators- they were released with a milled face before the general release of the Gen2 putters.

it is outstanding.

Man, I would have never looked at it if not for the price drop. I've said in other threads "a spider tour with a milled face would be perfect".

After finally giving up on the blackjack I started to decide to just go back to a spider tour L neck and deal with the insert. For some reason I looked at the pxg site first. There was the operator,  staring me in the face. So I ordered it. Rolled it on the practice green today and I was instantly brought back to the spider like stability and accuracy. The ball was all over the hole (and in it a lot). But best of all, firmer off the face and more speed off the face than the plastic spider insert.

Agree.  I have had spider and Odyssey 10.  Operator is superior to both in build quality and performance.  I got mine before the latest price reduction and I still consider it a good value investment (but obviously I would have preferred to pay less!).

Nope. That was one of my biggest gripes. $30 for GROUND is perturbing. $70 for next level shipping is even worse. They are making money on shipping. That's rather dumb.

When I've ordered at the store they don't charge for shipping but that's kind of a hassle for me, oh well.

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

The feedback system is annoying

Ordered an operator.  I wouldn’t have done it at the normal price but I’m looking forward to trying it on the course.

I don’t mind the spider inserts but what I’m really interested in is how the PXG face compares to Evnroll.  I like the concept of Evnroll but my distance control was terrible with their putters.  I couldn’t find much online about it but if the PXG face legitimately helps off center putts go a similar distance to center strikes while not making center strikes feel so weak then I think I’m going to really like it.

I think you'll like it. I feel like the ball comes off the face and the face feels the same regardless of where you hit it.

Picked up my blackjack earlier today after rolling the operator for 3 days...I know why i didn't get along with the blackjack...definitely so much weight back and center back. The balance of the operator is just tremendous. Feels like weight is perfectly distributed evenly across the head.

Glad it's working out for you! Really is a phenomenal putter. What weight configuration did you go with?

5g weights in the corners. Middle back weight port is empty.

Going to play it tomorrow and see how it goes. That puts it at 370g. I have the sink fit rubber grip that comes standard on pxg putters. Didn't realize the grip is like 130g. I may put a ss pistol gt 1.0 on it and drop the headweight to 360g...probably leave 5g in front ports and leave all 3 back ports empty.

Or may leave it like it is if I drop putts with it.

Nice, yeah that Lamkin Grip that comes stock is a beefy bastxxx. Head weight on these can get away from a guy in a hurry, I've gone 10g up front and 5g in the back with success as well.

I tried 10g in both front ports and everything else empty. That puts me at 370 but the putter feels balanced better with 5g in the corners to be at 370. I won't go above 370, I know that for sure.

Definitely pulling the lamkin grip. It's just too heavy. Love the shape so I think I'll try the ss claw. Apparently it's the exact same shape. Will allow me to get under 370 headweight too.

Hey guys, when the site says the “minimum head weight” spec, are they saying with no weights in the head?

No. The minimum headweight they list is 5g weights in all ports. The true minimum headweight is no weights. For the operator it's 350g.

Std weight config isn't listed so you'll have to call to confirm the true minimum on a putter. The blackjack comes with 4x10g weights which puts the true minimum at 350g for it as well.

Also the slant neck is 10g lighter and double bend is 20g lighter than plumber neck I believe
