TSi4 Reviews??? Where they at?

Recommended Posts

Late to the party I guess and fwiw.

I have found my combo unicorn etc.

TSi4/10 with Ventus red 6 tip: 1.5” @45.25

Setting at D1

I have tried them all to compete with this one for over a year now and none are even close.

I feel I can do anything with even take it from fairway.

Wanted to love the new Cally TD, wanted to love Stealth + etc and none comes close for me.

I will for sure buy one more - thinking about trying a 9.0

Late to this topic too, but after finding out that it's a 425cc head, decided to just get one to try. 9 degree head with Tensei AV Blue 55x, 45.00. Only 1 range session, no trackman/GCquad numbers. The net at this range ends at 255-260yards. My good drives with my G400/Ventus Blue6x or G425 LST/NX6x hits the middle to top of the net with srixon range balls. The tsi4 first impression, it flies high, much higher than my g400max/g425lst. Next it's very neutral, I usually hit a small draw but tsi4 was like dead straight. Also its alot more playable than I expect it to be. The really good ones hit the top of the net and had 2 balls out the net, so I gather its just higher launch+lower spin=more carry. BUTTT I had 3 shots that went dead straight, felt decent but dropped from the sky at 220-230yard mark. I don't know if it's funky range ball or the spin was too low it just dropped from the sky. Feel was superb, one of the most solid feeling drivers in recent years. Finally, the head isn't as pear shape n small as I expected, I don't have words to describe the shape, looks kinda boxy and odd. I'm going to put a 505x and a TZ5 55x in there and see how it works on the course. If the tsr4 is this head with more forgiveness and more stable tight spin window I think they might have a very special head.

Haven't tried the TSi4, but have had the TS4 in the bag for a couple of years now and haven't even looked at other drivers since I've had it. Love the low boring trajectory I get out of it, and am finding it way more forgiving than my old 917 D3. I will occasionally get a hard left hook out of it, but that's more of a swing issue than the club, considering I can get the same shape out of a 9 iron 🙂

Mines a 9.5 head with an Even Flow White 6.5 set on A1. Looks, feel and performance are all exactly what I'm looking for.

505x performs well with it.  Ventus Black 5x also performs well.  Totally opposite shafts.  When it is calm I use the 505x due to its higher flight.  When it is windy which is most of the time, I use the black 5x for lower piercing flight through the wind.

Echo the comment that since I got it, I have not looked even somewhat at other drivers.  I'm sure I will get the TSr4 just because of ho.

@larsorcier, 505x with tsi4 just screams Adam Scott failed experiment haha. Reason I got the 505x and tz5 out of all the shafts I have is to built exactly that, 2 extremely different profile to experiment.

14 hours ago, Lasorcier said:

I don't know what failed Adam Scott experiment means.

Tour pro Adam Scott tried to make the Autoflex work in a 9° TSi4, said he was bombing away on the range, and ended up worse off in every way in actual tournaments. Autoflex said it was because he didn’t do it right and had his driver SW at D3 instead of D0. Scott shrugged and went back to his Ventus Red.

I’ve also been inspired to try the TSi4 this week. My launch and spin has gotten too high due to my speed and I have started to prefer smaller headed drivers since getting the 300 mini. TSi4 theoretically checked all those boxes but I was wary due to it’s “unforgiving” reputation. I demoed it today with an AV White 6X and it was almost perfect and really not that unforgiving for me. Let me fitter know and we’ve got a date on Monday to see if something will finally kick out my F9.

8.25 degrees for me (9 degree down .75) for me with 70g 1k Orange in X.  Broke that shaft and while a new one was on the way (arrived yesterday), had a Yellow Smoke built 70g and 6.5 (cheap, available and sturdy for temporary replacement).  Added lots of weight to the shaft and head (23g) and got about 25-30 more yards and straighter shots.  A few rounds now and the only downside is that I can only slightly draw or cut the ball... with larger bends harder for me to hit.  The club sounds like a different driver.  Gonna be making the replacement 1k the same way with 12-15g or tape under the grip but tip it a bit extra.

I also was a 905t player, so the comparisons were good.  If you played the 905s or 905t, the differences between that and the 905r are good.  Good players loved the s or t whereas the s was more for everybody.

Even stock, you can still spin this club.  On worst, it it is only about 100 rpm less than a TSI3.  On best, it is more like 600 less for me and significantly better in the wind and with roll out.  It is longer and better than the d3 for people who have some speed and have lower spin swings, but probably not enough different if you do not.  I mostly hit in the middle, so not huge issues with misses.  If I catch it high or on the toe, it feels awful, but it still goes a long way before it falls out of the sky.  Heel shots are not great, but never are for me.  Low face hits are bullets, but they spin more like a d3.  I am 105-109 MPH kind of guy, so not super fast.

To add, I am Ok with some feedback since I want to get better which is why I got the d4 when it came out.  I am somewhat dumbfounded that lots of golfers expect to never change and just buy equipment that works for them and then wonder why they just kinda stay the same if they don't adjust and stuff.  I still play blades since they let me know where I stink and what I need to work on and this can be the driver equivalent of that.  If you expect this club to be like a d2, then it won't be.  I am amazed at how forgiving it is for an "unforgiving" club.  If you can just find the center section on the top 75% of the face, you will be able to play it, but the top shots feel bad while they still perform.  If you can find the middle, it will likely have a floor like a d2 or d3 with a ceiling that is much higher.  If you want to make it heavier, it can respond without getting more spinny.

I got a F9 with 6.5 HZRDUS too since I knew that I would want to make the club heavier and both allow for front weight changes to keep spin low without using tape and something about putting a bunch of tape all over a new $500+ driver is unsettling to me from the get-go, but I would do it if I HAD to.... plus it slowly wears off which I have not been good on keeping up with in the past.  Adding weight in the stock position to a D3 is a disaster for me with launch like a 9 iron and spin to match.  The F9 is a really good club for me, but completely different.  I could never get the F9 to launch this low or spin this low, but it is plenty playable with more weight in the front.
