19 pro v1 versus 21 pro v1

Let me preface this by saying a comparison like this (by me) is pretty uncertain. The differences in one year's model to the next are way down in the noise compared to the limitations of my game. So take this with more than one grain of salt🤨

I have always preferred Pro V1x to Pro V1. For me the Pro V1, when I've tried it, has lacked elevation on my shots and that costs me a little carry distance with the driver and (even though Pro V1 spins plenty) the lower decent angle on iron shots is a problem with firm greens.

Unlike any previous versions, the 2021 Pro V1 does not have that problem. I don't know if Titleist made it fly higher on purpose or maybe it just works out that way for my swing. Don't care why, it's definitely a thing. The 2021 Pro V1 is a softer feeling, slightly lower spinning ball that flies just as high and holds greens as well than the 2019 Pro V1x I was playing up until this January.

But if you liked the "boring" trajectory of the 2019 Pro V1 it's possible you will find the 2021 Pro V1 a little less likable in that department.

The biggest difference I have found between the 2019 and 2021 Pro V1 is the new dimple design handles the wind better.

I really liked the 2018 and 19 versions.  The new ones just launch way too high for my liking and feel overly soft IMO.   Titleist has gotten a lot better though at designing balls that cut through the wind better.

So you agree that they seem to have upped the elevation somewhat on this year's Pro V1?

That's what I think I'm seeing but with my game, I'm never sure whether to trust my eyes or not...come to think of it my eyes aren't what they once were either!

Not even close, 2021 is better ball.  Performance in the wind alone is a reason to use the 21 version, but it's also softer if you prefer that too.  I would agree that it might be too soft for some, but you can try the proV1x ball then.

If it launches higher, it's not super noticeable on the course and it's probably like 1 degree difference.  I wouldn't worry about that.  It's only improving the landing angle and with the improved wind performance it doesn't effect anything.  I've played the ball in fairly stiff winds and barely saw the ball move.

I think Rick Shiels also mentioned that he saw a higher ball flight with the new ProV1 and x for this year.  Definite increase in height overall.  It's weird but I think the apex for wedges have stayed pretty consistent for '21 with past models.

I agree. With wedges the new Pro V1 is one of those balls that make me look like I can control the height of my shots. Even though I just swing and take whatever the ball wants to give me.🤫

I think we were referring more to the flight being higher, not initial launch angle.

I don't think any "Tour" type ball has significantly different spin off the driver than the others. Certainly not to the extent that a low-medium swing speed amateur golfer could possibly tell a difference.

i asked because, I am a high handi, so my driving isnt super consistent, and just dont want it to hurt me...I just love the feel of the pro v1 and loved how it putted. i had gotten a sleeve to try, but dont wanta invest in more if it will punish me on  mis hits off driver......

They did make the new Prov1 go higher but still kept it lower than the 1x.

There was lots of discussion on this in the 2021 Prov1 thread.

That matches what I've seen but given the randomness of my swing it's hard for me to nail down very precisely. They've made the flights now so similar I basically can't say for sure there's a difference.

Of course as a low-spin, low-flight, low-speed 15hcp the difference even on a launch monitor is probably like a yard of elevation or less.

I do not think you will find the 2021 Pro V1 to be any lower spin than 2019 Pro V1. Nobody seems to be reporting that anecdotally and the couple tests I saw online when the 2021 first came out did not show lower spin.

If you want to meaningfully lower spin in the Titleist range you're looking at Pro V1x Left Dash or AVX. Possibly that other TPU cover model they just introduced but I'm not familiar with it.

AVX is the lowest spinning out of their line up.  Played the AVX briefly last year.  Also the lowest launching as well.  ProV1 will only hurt you off the tee if it's spinning too much and believe me, not too many golfers put too much spin on those.

If you're looking for a golf ball to fix a bad swing, it's a fruitless pursuit.  If anyone is spinning the ball too much and they don't want to fix their swing, than go with the ball that provides the best level of correction, but it's minimal and not worth choosing over the ball that provides the best results around the greens.

I find the '21 v1 has a little higher trajectory for me than the '19 version.  I have played quite a few rounds with it and prefer it over the 'old' ball.  To me, the new v1 seems to be a combination of the prior balls.
