P770, ZX7 or i210

assuming you are using a similar weighted shaft - here is the run down of the forementioned irons - this should and will probably be like this for the forseeable future

 

Srixons - i have owned all sets of them at one point or another (745 and up) with the exception of the Zforged.  The ZX7 they have the longest heel to toe lenght of any CB type iron - v sole - overly exxagerated in terms of turf interaction - neither con or pro - consistent feel throughout the set - nice click to them - not quite as heavy and thumpy as muiras or soft as mizuno - they have a distinctive feel - they will look more closed face than TM or i210 - super easy to hit knock downs - about 1/8" longer in length - closest of the 3 to a traditonal cb iron

 

TM - more squatty looking - they are basically the same design as the Bridgestone J15 DCB but with less offset - designed for better players that only miss it high or low on the face, same design philospohy of their wood.  very traditional sole - packed with more technology than the ZX7 and i210 - i would put these head to head with 0311T/P, cost more than i210 and zx7.  imo they are more of tweener club - neither here or there.  personally if you are in this category of irons, it would be easier and cheaper to get the pxg gen2/3 or a set of ZX5

 

Pings - owned all i series except i210 -  same old same old - thats how they are designed - if you are an "I" player - its super easy to transition to newer sets - funny enough they have the pre worn leading edge like the J15 CB.  probably the most consistent iron in terms of loft and lie - you won't get jumpers with these clubs, some might not like the generous offset in the long irons.  if i were designing the next version of the i - take out the molds from i25 (copy paste) and make them look better, reduce the offset in the 4/5 - done.  figure out how to add tungsten to all the clus without adding cost

 

All three are distinctive irons - there is no way anyone can argue that either one can out perform the other - if they do - they are just B.Sing you.  end of the day - go with feel and looks for this category

The squarish toe on the i210 looks amazing at address. There's a reason why so many on Ping's PGA and LPGA staff use them. There are very few OEMs that have such adoption on both tours. They do have a pretty bulky sole though. If I was buying irons today I'd really be looking at the Callaway TCBs as well.
