Either way.. Traffic is way down. I haven't been lurking like I used to, but click on pretty much any main forum sub thread, and 1/4 page down you're still seeing posts from a week ago.

Maybe posts more distributed.  Numbers are far from being down and are quite healthy.

Genuine question here - I have had a super positive experience over the last year on BST from both sides; but is there any thought of trying to eliminate the scalpers there?
It was just such a kick in the teeth when I was trying to get a Champion’s Choice to game and there’s 10 listings all for insane amounts on there. Not saying people don’t have to recoup costs - but when prices are double retail, they are just trying to make a quick buck.

The general consensus is they are annoying to see but easy to ignore. A thread opens up every time a limited scotty is released. Here's a Mod's explanation:

You are allowed to flip putters and etc, but not Nike shoes from Ross.

Another one of the great rules of the classifieds.

And the mod explanation in the post above doesn't make any sense when it comes to Ross shoes. If buyers aren't buying them, then the shoes will disappear off the first page and eventually not be listed at all (or very rarely). If people are buying them, then what's the harm? If Ross somehow had a fire sale with $20/doz brand new ProV1s and flippers ran to the BST to sell them for $30, isn't that a win-win-win?

We are not a classifieds clearance site for surplus goods. The classifieds are for personnel use only.

So based on the above, why are flipped Jordan golf shoes ok? They will list  a size 9, 12 and 14 and shockingly, they didn’t fit…Or the latest cameron release putters new in the plastic listed for double the price paid. Unless they have been busted open and used, they don’t seem to be in the spirit of personal use.

No room in this thread for some sound logic cardia10!  Keet it to yourself! lol

What boggles the mind is that as a community, there is 50x the number of complaints about these "my gf bought me Jordan's that were 4 sizes too big and then she got me another pair that were 4 sizes too small" BST postings, than there ever was about the Ross scavengers passing on deals to the community.

Heck, I've been a regular on this site for a while, and don't recall seeing anywhere near the number of complaints about the Ross shoppers as there is about "scalpers".  Did the community really have issue with someone selling Nike golf shoes at like 75% off retail even if they doubled their ($25) money?

Yes, logic escapes people.

The bst is for personal use. Flipping consistently for profit is commercial use.

If the community suspects commercial flipping, report it to mods.   Mods react to reports.  They aren’t hunting every listing.

What is the motivation for allowing Surplus store flipping?  To avoid eBay and other service fees to use the WRX classifieds?

This is a golf social site first, not a classified site for golf.

For me, the motivation was always helping out other members. After shipping and PayPal fees, a member could basically make nothing on Ross shoes, yet Jordan’s are routinely priced over $200 from retail. I’m totally cool with it not being allowed, but  many other items are just as if not more blatant. If we totally followed the rules, then a used shaft listed also would’t be gripped but that would eliminate half the ads listed. I guess the selective policing would be my main complaint.

Policing is subjective because it’s by member reports.

Mods are not actively looking at every listing, they do respond and investigate reports.

You don’t need to post in the classifieds to do someone a favor. Posting in the classifieds  inherently involves self interest.

Responding to a request to help someone is more likely altruistic.

Flipping rare or high demand premium items is why the bst exists. As stated by many on the type of items that move here, it’s not surplus items or components. It’s items that retain some value.
