ZX7 vs P7MC

An obvious “get fit” situation but I’ve been using the ZX7s for a year now and I’ve noticed that as my swing speed and strength have increased, I’m seeing less and less spin. Lots of balls not holding the green with the 7-PW. On my fit for the ZX7, the one club I didn’t swing were the P7MCs. Didn’t have them in stock in lefty. Besides forgiveness likely being greater with the ZX7, any one out there have experience with both?

I have both and i prefer the 7MCs but thats because they more like a blade.  I dont think the forgiveness on the MCs is that bad and both spin enough imo…but the zx7 have more jump in them & lower lofts which is most likely the spin issue you see.      the zx7 def more of a powerful feel and the MCs more bladeish.   Honestly, if you need some spin, the easiest way is changing the ball.   The TP5 and BXS spin enough to make any club stop. Lol. GL

I’m confused at how with speed and strength you’re having a harder time holding greens than before. More club head speed means higher launch and spin with the same impact conditions. Could you possibly be delofting them more and hitting a lower ball that is skipping and rolling out? Hitting a draw now when you used to hit a cut? Something is off if you could hold greens with slower speeds.

What shafts are in the ZX7?  I agree with the above, with more speed on a good strike, you should in theory be spinning it more, but I guess it depends on your delivery.   From the sounds of it, you don't hit the ball very high so that is something that could be adjusted in a fitting possibly.  I had the 785 with Modus 120 and those things would hit and stop on the greens.

Exactly correct. I have completely changed my ball flight from a fade to a draw as I increased speed. I would subscribe to your theory about hitting a lower ball.

How is the flight?  With these shafts I always had plenty of height to hold greens with the Srixons even at stronger lofts.  My 7i swing speed is arond 85 mph.  Do you have any specifics about your swing?  Speeds?

Edit*  Sorry, not to get off topic here.... I do think the P7MC will spin more than the Srixons, maybe that will help you?  Having hit both, they feel great, look great, but I think the ZX7 will offer a little more forgiveness.  Could also try having them bent weak if you aren't getting the height or spin you need and see what happens.  Cheap experiment before dropping coin on a new iron set.

I used to hit a very high lefty fade. Since speed has increased, I have started to hit a lower draw. Not hitting as high of a ball as I used to anymore.
