TaylorMade TP Soto putter feedback?

I have a spider that I like but the greens I play are very touchy and fast and I’m thinking I may try a blade again.

I was honestly thinking of doing that. I’m sure wait times are hard to pin down but about how long did yours take?

How's the feel of this putter/insert? I want a putter with a top line but don't want to spend the big bucks on a circle T. Thinking about the custom PLD or custom Toulon, but the price on these is solid. Looking for a soft feel

I like the feel, medium soft insert, great confident feel and the pure roll grooves put top spin on the ball to keep it rolling true. I'm a big fan (Obviously)...

 

I love the custom blades so much I had to order a couple more with a slightly different look. This program is an amazing value IMHO.

Tarrantian do you know the headweight? I’ve reached out to them but got no answer. I want to know what a long neck in 35 inch weighs. They do look very good and are great value but this lack of information is a dealbreaker right now

It is pretty ridiculous that you can choose custom engraving, but not head weight or lie angle.

No loft and lie I understand at this price point as it requires bending and that probably affect product line to much. It’s also an easy fix as most shops can do that for you. Not stating stock weight is crazy imo, also the aftermarket weight kits and tool aren’t easy to buy and obviously they don’t match custom paintfills (no big deal for me personally)

Got the TP Bandon 1 recently used, added some after market weights for cheap and had my shop bend it to my lie preference.  Great putter I really like the insert it is softish feel with a good roll.

I believe these numbers to be true (Standard port weights w/34" are 2 x 10g / 35" 2 x 7.5g):

• Toe Hang: 47 degrees
• Offset: Full shaft
• Length: 34 and 35 inches
• Head Weight: 346 grams
• Loft: 3.5 degrees
• Lie Angle: 70 degrees

For my first Soto, I was able to order colour matched 2 x 20g weights from Taylormade (No longer available sadly). The more recent order I removed the 10g weights, adding equal amounts of lead tape below, putting the weights back on. Not quite the same 'heft' as the 20g weights, but close.

Surlyn or aluminum, depends on the color I believe.

I believe black was aluminum, but not 100% sure on that.

It was bugging me enough so I reached out to taylormade and it's surlyn. I hope this helps anyone for future orders.

Was in the process of building out a spider to match my Soto. It seems that the Soto might actually be aluminum based on the inserts being able to be different colors. Anyone have thoughts?

The Soto is Aluminum only....

 

The current generation of Spiders offer both Surlyn and Aluminum as illustrated above. I love the Aluminum inserts on the Soto, but oddly prefer the Surlyn Pure Roll on my new Spiders. I find the vibe with the blade is completely different for me, just a completely personal choice.

 

I had toyed with the Spider GTX Mallet last year, and didn't like that version of the insert, and very happy TM have moved back to the OG Pure Roll Surlyn. 

 

Once again, all subjective and you simply have to try to find out your preference - Head to your local retailer and try out the Hydro Blast Putter 'White' Aluminum and compare with the off the shelf new Spider range with the Surlyn before you pull the trigger on one of the 'My' custom options.
