2021 PXG 0211 ST vs ......

Recommended Posts

I'm late to the show but hoping I can get some comparison info on the 2021 PXG 0211ST and my current sets.  I have seen some compare them to Srixon.  I have the original Z945s how does the PXG compare in forgiveness and feel?

I know PXG has Ping design engineers, how does the 0211ST compare to the S55s?

My 3 sets are:

Bridgestone J40

Ping S55

Srixon Z945

Thanks for anyone that takes the time to provide useful feedback.  I know at $88 a club it is a no brainer.  But if they are less forgiving then the Z945s I'm going to have to pass...

Surprised that their are no club hoes comparison comments.  But actually there doesn't appear to be much info/forum threads/videos on the 2021 0211 ST blades on the net.  My observation just from photos and the fact that PXG designer came from Ping.  I see a lot of similarities between the 0211 ST blades and S55.  In head shape, top line, sole width, bounce profile and of course the painted white bottom groove.

More distance along with better descent angle than ZX7 in my hands. More feedback on misfits but not overly punishing results. Easy decision for me, but I cannot directly compare against anything you listed. I like feedback without getting killed for imperfection. I think anybody playing players category irons can play these, so in that sense I believe they are similar forgiveness with Staff Model Blades, MP20 MB, ZX7, etc.

I wasn’t seeking out distance but it’s hard to argue with watching the ball fly further, just as tight, and coming in at better landing angles.

There has been several discussions on them especially since the price dropped to $75/club over the summer and now $88/club.  I have a set and love them.  I’m a mid handicap player so, I probably “shouldn’t” be playing them.  But they are so easy to hit.

A few years ago, I played Mizuno JPX 900T and then MP18mb.  These remind me of the best features of both of them.  They are forgiving as the 900T and powerful like the MP18.  I would have been happy with them at their $149 price.  At $88, these are a steal.

The more I compare the pics I think the 0211 ST blades look like the same size, shape and profile as the S55. Top 6 pics are 2021 0211 ST blades and the bottom 4 pics are S55.  They look very close even the high toe area.  image.jpeg.0ab91b17cf05cced8e9a55634a36febe.jpegimage.jpeg.f733ae0b496120d6d4b49bea3d427810.jpeg

If anyone is watching this thread and has both clubs I'd love to see some side by sides.  Golf News – February 12, 2021 - Plugged In GolfPing iBlade Iron - Spargo GolfPing S55 | Golf Equipment: Clubs, Balls, Bags | Golf Digestimage.jpeg.7b59d6490ec584d29b02a8538e890397.jpegReview: PING S55 iron | GolfMagic

In those comparison pics the way the top line meets the hosel at the heel is night and day different. My eye prefers the PXG look. Historically Mizuno short irons used to look wonky for the same reason.

In person the ST looks trim and compact but not scary. I like it a lot and I’m looking forward to getting the full set.

I never notice the hosel until now.  The S55 hosel looks like it is protruding info the face profile. I still am holding out hope for a side by side.  Needing to compare toe to heal length, sole width and a face on shot.  I'll probably just buy and set and use the 30 day restoking option if I don't love them.

I played the s55 for a very long time and have played the Gen3 T for going on 2 years. I also own the 0211 ST and enjoy playing them as well. They're all very close and almost identical size wise with the ST having thinner topline and soles over the s55 and T. I had comparison photos of the T & s55 on the site, but they seem to have disappeared for whatever reason. If you compare the specs, you'll see how closely all 3 models are aligned. Same engineers developed all 3 sets and they did a great job in doing it. For the price it's a no brainer. I even upgraded the ST shafts to Steelfiber and think it's a deal for the performance you get.

Snagy2000 can you comment on the forgiveness between S55 and 0211ST blades.  And any difference in feel?  As you stated both were designed by the same senior engineering team and they are both made of 8620 so did they feel the same?  Long iron performance the same?

Thanks for any input!!!

Ping S55 cavity irons are cast from 17-4 Stainless Steel while the 0211ST is 8620 forged blade.

Totally different designs.

I prefer the feel of the ST over s55. Feel is subjective IMO. Both feel good, ST feel great when nutted, but still lacking compared to T.

Z945 are the softest irons out there. Feel great , love the sharp angles. Sole is perfect. Nothing to dislike. I just got mine stripped and are raw now. Look top notch.
