WTF (What The Ferrule) - My ferrules keep coming loose - Help needed!

So I am having ferrule issues. I am using .355 Ferrules that are .875 in length. Just the stock GolfWorks ferrules. They are on Srixon ZX5 irons, with PX LZ shafts. The ferrules are not a tight fit. They are also not collared. Thing is, the keep coming loose. I am using GolfWorks PSB4 Epoxy which has a lap shear strength of 3500.

Even after cleaning the shaft for 90% ISP, and reapplying the epoxy, it is not helping. This is on multiple clubs.

Any advice?

Just to be clear, are you applying epoxy to the section of the shaft that the ferrule covers?

That is unusual. Usually even a small amount will hold a ferrule. Perhaps the inside of the ferrule is not clean?

To prevent ferrules from climbing on the shaft, we should add a drop of epoxy to the shaft tip, rotate the ferrule over it, then push the ferrule into its position with the club head (and a tip weight in the shaft tip if that club needs one).

Then we can move on and add epoxy like normal, where i suggest we add epoxy only to the upper 1/3 of the hosel, then as stripes in full length from the tip to the ferrule. Now hold the head upside down, and insert the shaft UP into the hosel while you rotate the shaft. wipe of, put the club to dry. (if a tip weight is used, give that tip weight a drop of epoxy on the side of it, just to make sure)

This way of adding epoxy also prevent epoxy from entering the shaft tip, so in most cases, tip weights can be re-used if heads are pulled later. Epoxy will always cover the full insert this way since the shaft tip brings it down when we insert the shaft.

Most likely that epoxy doesn’t adhere to plastic very well. Or it’s extremely brittle and the shaft vibration breaks the bond easily between the ferrule and shaft.
I would use this. Been using it for 15 years and never have any issues.

You use that to epoxy your shafts...or just for the ferrules?

I use it on everything. It’s the best epoxy I’ve used. Some will say it’s too strong and saving graphite is a problem. I’ve probably shafted 1500 clubs with it and never had an issue with epoxy setting, loose ferrules, loose club heads or pulling shafts. Only drawback is mixing it each time for each club cause it sets so quick, but having zero issues later makes it worth it. I’ve pulled my current graphite irons shafts I think 6 times and the tips are perfect. In fact I pulled my putter shaft last night, heated with a torch for 30 seconds and twisted the head off. It’s great stuff. Make sure it’s that specific epoxy though, not the regular JB weld
