Hey All,

Just wanted to shoot off a quick post to see if anyone here is from the maritimes... if you can't tell from my pic I'm going to Acadia University in Wolfville, NS... grad come May!!

Hi, I'm from Shediac, NB. Living in Brooklin, ON now. I've been up here for about seven years. Moved here for work. We still go home a few times a year. My wife is from Riverview.

 

You can see with my avatar where I went to Univ. I also spent a few years at TUNS in Halifax.

I have been living on the West coast for the last 12years, but my heart is still in the Maritimes. Now there have been a bunch of great courses built in the Maritimes over the last several years and I make it a point to play at least a couple of them each time I am back visiting. I still seem to have a soft spot for St. Andrews, even though it is a mere shell of the course I use to play as a junior.

Hey nmrpenguin, how is Penn Hills? I live down in Lunenburg County, and that's one of the places a few buddies and I are considering on a little "keep it in Nova Scotia" trip we're trying to get together. But no one I know seems to have played it since it expanded to 18 holes.

Just took a research/teaching position at the Nova Scotia Agriculture college in the Truro, NS area. I moved from Vancouver...so yeah a huge difference in the east coast vs west coast thing. Anyone around the area? I am probably heading to Penn Hills on Sunday, seems like one of the few difficult courses close by.

pfffffffffffffffffffftttttttttt, a month if we are lucky. Sussex in normally the first one, closely followed by a few other small courses

Is the Gage Golf course open to the general public at all times? I think it is on the military base if I'm correct. I hear it can be a fun course to try when in the area.

Yes it is. The tentative opening date is May 9th. Reasonably priced course. The conditions got pretty bad near the end of last summer though so I hope they keep it a little better this year. Greens normally play pretty fast and some holes require a bit of strategy. Some risk-reward holes too. I normally leave the driver in the bag though as the course plays kind of short. I don't like leaving myself with awkward 3/4 shots into the greens.
