Thoughts on golf coach caddying for your junior?

My daughters coach offered to caddy for her couple times (didnt work out as tournaments didnt worked with his schedule) but it would have been free of charge and more for him to understand how she works in tournament compared to leisure rounds. He wouldnt coach her, just caddy.
He offers this kind of "service" sometimes to his students he really likes, and wanted even to travel to the US to caddy for one of his student in his first tournament, he got accepted in Florida D1, and there was a tournament with Caddies, where our coach wanted to go, but i think covid destroyed this plan.
I know he is one of a kind, but not all parents need to pay for the USKids Caddie Coach, I think some of them like to do it and I personally wouldnt see anything wrong with it, as long as they both can work together nicely.

Why would you pay for a coach to caddie for a kid when you travel to the US for a IS Lods tournament.

It’s a waste of money and honestly something that really turns me off about US Worlds.

You take your kid out and caddie for them. will there be mistakes made i gurantee you that there will be.

The experience of being their caddie is what it all about way better then paying someone else who just wants a free trip.

Do you ever read what people write or do you pick just one sentence and try to argue?
Lets do this again!
Some Coaches travel on their own cost, because they "love" the child!
Some families are rich enough to see it as a very small expense and think the coach might make the experience nicer for the child, as daddy might be a bit to emotional.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE TWO? NOTHING!

If someone overspends his budget for coaches and everything just 4 the gram and to brag, its stupid, and very sad.
If the coach is an a**hole and makes the experience bad for the child, maybe talk to the parents, what you saw, as this shouldnt happen as well BUT ->
The question here is why do you judge? How do you know the reason or circumstances, why the coach is there? How about minding your own stuff, as long as they dont break any rules?

I see a lot of sad parents out there that fall into your 'very sad' description.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

What sort of coach travels on their own dime for someone else’s kid.

i understand if this local but come on no one travel overseas and what amounts thousands of dollars for another persons kid.

In America parents of kids who play sports have to pay for everything.

coaches give discounts but unless you from a socialist country you paying for everything for the most part.

Go play with you kid and be there caddy. Paying for a someone to travel for their kid usually means parent is over the top.

Personally I think the opportunity to spend some time with my child caddying for him/her could be the highlights during parent-junior golf journey. On the other hand, I know that there are many cases juniors caddied by their coaches played really well the the events. So I would say nothing wrong with either.

Dubai/UAE isnt socialist, but yes our Coach does it if he thinks he needs some vacation and likes the kid.
I doubt we found the only coach on earth who would do it, so Im sure there might be one or another who does it as well.
If you dont know, dont judge, and if its not your bank account, dont judge!
Just because YOU dont believe no coach would do it, doesnt mean that no coach is actually doing it!

You are still spending thousands for a coach to caddy for a US Kids event.  Seriously that is insane and it certainly is not the norm.  It not about money either.  I don[t know what world you live in but your paying him indirect compensation.  You can claim it's Free if you want but the reality is you still paying him.

The reason I am calling you out on this this is one those things I see over the top parents all the time. Take that how you want to. But based on your logic everyone who gets a AJGA Taylormade discount is on their staff too.

You coach is only offering this because they just see a chance to get a free vacation and was hoping it would work out.   You mentioned the schedule didn't work out. He got a better offer then you and probably doesn't care as much as you think.

Where do I pay him? He offered one of his students to come for free to the US and caddy him for FREE!!!!
He thought him for 10years and was just happy and wanted to share this Event with him. (I would never pay for it, as it would be too expensive, but if it would be free im sure my daughter would love to have him as a caddie as well)
He offered us some local caddie stuff 100% FOR FREE, his hourly for us is much lower than he gets from other AND lower than you guys in the US pay...

THE VACCATION IS PAID BY HIM! HE PAYS HIS TRIP AND CADDIES FOR 0! HE MIGHT TAKE VACCATION ON PLACES HIS STUDENTS PLAY, NO COST FOR THEM!! HE JUST COMBINES VACCATION AND WORKING WITH KIDS HE CARES FOR!!!!
NO FEE! NO CHARGE!!! NO INDIRECT PAYMENT!!!

Hope this was now clear enough... WHAT HAS A DISCOUNT TO DO WITH A COACH LOVING HIS JOB AND HELPING FAMILIES?
He offers it for free in his FREE TIME! FUN! VACCATION! OFF DAYS!!
I know his off days, and our tournaments havnt been on these days...
No joke, you dont know anything but have a opinion, facts, and judging on everything... cant take you serious at all...

All I said was I can imagine that couple Caddie Coaches are doing it for free at Pinehurst because they love their job and care about their students... obv not all do it free of charge, and also obv people shouldn't make debts to get a Coach to this Event...
If you can afford and it doesnt hurt you at all, and the parents think the Event will be nicer for the child with a Caddie than parent, why not? You are that butthurt that some people have more money than WE have?

something doesn’t sound correct with this.  I been around a lot coaches and they have to make a living somehow.  The may like your kid but they need to eat too.

Money has nothing to do with it.  we play with lots of foreign kids. Some parents are just like Americans.  However other ones who decide have a entourage are always ones everyone knows to watch.

If want to play in the US you should plan on being the caddy for your own kid.

Yeah sorry I forgot you know it better, because you know EVERYONE, and EVERYONE is same!!
To be honest I would do the same if I would be coach, if I take vacation and can go wherever I want, and there is an international Event... Why not?

Again just for you to understand... MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, you dont know if:
1. parents are super rich
2. coach did it from his own pocket, for whatever reason
3. maybe parents do not know anything about Golf just enjoy watching and prefer not to interfere and just enjoy, which might be the healthier choice for many caddie daddies.
4. someone else paid (federation, sponsor, china(as i know you dont like international kids who get something), whoever)

But all these points are invalid, because there are some parents who overspend their budget! Which is sad BUT STILL NOT YOUR BUSINESS!!!

If money wasn't an issue and I could hire a caddy for my kid that was better at it than me, why not? just because its not in YOUR budget, doesn't make it wrong.

I have (I'm sure we all have) seen plenty of parents negatively impact their kids games while on the bag. So many parents that don't know golf, out there trying to coach/caddy their kid. Or parents that don't know the course, or frankly just not good caddies. So much goes into getting the most out of your player, and I'm not entirely sure parents are best suited for that during a competitive round.

That being said, I love carrying my kids bag...practically the only reason she competes is for us to hang like that.

In my experience parents as caddies are much much much worse. Very rarely have I seen a parent caddie and it gone well. Usually the younger the kid the worse. Coaches are always better, generally more reserved, talk less, less critical. I’ve been with my coach for many years now and has made a huge improvement in my game. If I’m playing a tournament close to home and he is free he’ll caddie for me, but he knows to caddie for me as a friend and not my coach, by no means is he trying to correct my swing mid round. But it’s nice to have someone to knows my game as well has he does on the bag. (I’m almost 21 for reference)
