Does anyone have experience with this training aid?

 

I would love something that could help me avoid the early extension that plagues me from time to time. It's a really ingrained habit and this seems like it might promote a better move.

 

When it gets really bad, I tend to hit it out on the toe. I would assume that my hands get closer to my body, causing the (sometimes) severe toe strikes.

goto your local DIY shop, grab a cheap offcut of wood and stick a small dowel under the middle and save yourself 120 dollars

Google around and u will find a few easy diy guides to make one 

I plan to  make one to practice with this winter indoors

Never heard of this, but it sure looks too narrow for wood/driver.

Love the combo of my DIY pressure board and the SKLZ Gold Flex. Timing, tempo, and sequence feel amazing after a few swings.

what size wood did you use? 

 

going to make my own just not sure how thick wood I need for it

I bought and returned the WhyGolf product and would definitely recommend just trying to build something similar yourself. I got 95% of the performance benefit using an old shelf from an Ikea bookshelf and a piece of 2x4 I had laying around.

 

Just a couple notes to spare you the $100: the WhyGolf board is definitely too narrow to use for anything greater than a mid or maaaybe long iron. Your stance will just be too wide to fit on the board. 

 

The biggest problem is that on grass, the board sinks into the ground too much and you have to really manipulate it to get it to do anything. On turf, you're way off the ground and hitting shots becomes unnatural. Even if you aren't hitting shots, the board just rocks too much to truly simulate the pressure shift in a natural way. I'd recommend building your own to get a general sense of what they want you to feel, and then if you still want a product to help you with your swing, look into the Force Pedal.

DIY'ers have at it. If you want to buy a great board, the "DownShift" board is really good. Don't use it on linoleum:)

One can learn to have the legs resist and push off by setting up centered over the ball with the weight toward the front of the feet on the balls, even with the heels slightly off the ground. The weight should be distributed evenly and the knees slightly bent. Hogan called this active leg tension, they should feel springy. The head should be slightly to the right of the spine and the hands slightly to the left the same distance more or less.

 

With a setup like this and the hands "subordinate" to the legs, ie gripping the club doesn't change the slight pressure in the legs, one can learn to swing around the lower body and eventually once one feels the legs pushing off together to start the downswing then it will become more natural. It's easy to hit the ball close to one's potential with a draw.

 

I also recommend doing a forward press to start the swing in order that the weight doesn't shift too much to one legs but stays evenly distributed at the start of the backswing, thus making the legs resist almost automatic, or at least get one on the path to feeling the legs driving the golf swing.
