KBS Tour Lite vs Nippon Modus 105

going to demo a KBS tour lite today vs my Modus 105

Modus 105s goes low and without any spin and holding greens is a challenge. Tour Lite goes high and far and just lands at a perfect descent angle to hold greens. The shaft feels light but stable, while the Modus feels much more heavy and stiff. 

I was only able to hit 7 shots with the iron on the course, but so far very impressed and will be out there again tomorrow for another demo. I will never demo an iron inside, off mats or any place other than out on the course. Need to seem ballflight and divots in real time

what was the difference/improvement you saw with the DG105?

Demo day #2 complete with 7 irons being used all day all over the course from 200 yards to 100 yards. I didn't even bring the rest of my irons, just 3 7 irons with Modus 105s, Ctaper lite s, KBS tour lite S.

 

Modus 105 is the lowest spin, lowest launch and worst feeling of the bunch. It still works ok, but for me combined with the ZX5 head doesn't work great for me. 

 

C Taper lite is mid-launch and mid spin, feels good and is an improvement over my current shaft for sure. I would be happy upgrading to that shaft. 

 

KBS tour lite is exactly what I was looking for. I have been considering a move to graphite and definitely something lighter so i tried Steelfiber, MMT, Recoil, Axiom 105 in the past month. For me currently swinging my 7 iron at 85 MPH I am not ready for graphite just yet. Not sure why but the lighter steel just works better for me and my swing.

 

The KBS goes up on a higher trajectory and the descent angle is nothing like I have ever seen before. It definitely flies higher and longer than my Modus 105. Instead of a low left hook miss short and left of the green the KBS stays in the air longer and would miss the green slightly left but pin high. On average the KBS is about 10 yards longer and feels much better. I will be re-shafting ASAP

Interesting that the Modus 105's play low launch and low spin for you. I just switched over to the Modus 105's stiff from the KBS $-taper 120's in my Cobra King Tours. For me, the Modus 105's are stupid high in flight (in a good way though lol) but the decent angles are unreal, like 50 to 53° landing angles. It's like the ball just drops out of the sky on the green. No loss of yardage with the switch either and smooth as silk. My wife took a few swings with them and "smooth" was the first word she said after swinging them.

thats the funny part about golf, same shaft and completely different results for 2 different players. Thats why you have to demo everything first

In theory it makes no sense but totally depends on how you deliver the club. Not sure how shaft companies can list a shaft as low or high launch when each golfer can have different results.

Got a second opinion on a recent fitting that I did and ironically, KBS tour lite were by far the best for me as well. Going to give them a try in the second set to see how this plays out…

game changing for me, I have been searching for a better shaft for 3 years. Goes higher, further, comes down on a perfect landing angle. Whats not to like, and I am the worlds biggest shaft ho

Love all graphite design, they just feel smooth and easy for me and I have tried everything. Have the DI and HD in my driver but the HD just works better. Spin is better and launch is perfect. I love it so much im going to sell the DI
