Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 (new version) is not the same as the old

Has anyone tried the new Biom Hybrid 3's ? I just got mine delivered. At first glance they're very similar. Come to find out, they stopped using YAK leather. I didnt think it was a big deal,... until i played 18.

 

These dont feel the same at all ! the toe box was digging onto the top of my toes when im walking. This is a problem with many golf shoes for me but never the Hybrid 3's. these are not as comfortable as the original 3's. Im so bummed. i sent my old pair back for warranty replacement. So now im stuck with POS shoe smh.

 

Anyone else have this problem ??

I tried on a pair last spring, and I did not like them. Definitely not the same fit as previous model.

Curious what went wrong with the first pair. They're pretty simple shoes and generally well made.  It is weird though, I looked at TGW and indeed they have 2 listings. One says Yak, one says Cow Leather in the details. You think they'd increment the numbering or something..

The original Biom Hybrid 3 with yak leather, also, had a Goretex liner - the new ones do not have either.

Was my favorite shoe. Sucks . now I wear them to work in on the farm.  I’m not a boot lover, I hate heavy shoes. These work. Waterproof. Durable as hell and comfortable with grip.  This no lie is on my feet right now.  New in 2019 or late 2018.  No care given. ( wish I had ). They’ve been submerged totally and let to air dry and shrink several times.  Rinsed inside and out with a hose and let to dry many times.  They finally split. But  only at the seen seams.  The thread rotted.  And look. Inners are still in one piece. This is still water proof in dewy grass.  And they don’t stink.  Beats all i ever saw.  They take abuse and just work.  If I had known they’d stop making them.  I’d have bought 5/6 pairs. And taken better care.

the liner couldve been the difference i was feeling... it just didnt feel very nice slipping them on like i did the old ones. the whole shoe just felt kind of stiff. youre talking about that "sock liner" thing inside the shoe right @bellken ?

 

The old ones felt like they were molded to my feet from day one.

the TGW listing is for the same shoe - the new versions. I checked. Dont buy them, youll prob end up returning them.

 

Whyyyyy in the world would you change anything to your biggest selling shoe as a company is beyond me.

... Exactly what I did. Gray, Black, Brown, white and a white pair in reserve. And yes, using the conditioner prolongs their life. You should have PM'ed me. 😉

Im regretting my decision to send in for warranty replacement out of literally pure selfish greed reasons. I thought hey i could get a new pair for free,, why not?? all i had was a small wet spot on my toe that one day. There were no tears, no holes, no thread unstitching. I dont know how there was a wet spot. It could have sweat for all i knew.. I never even bothered to check for leaks. 

 

My only thought process was "YAY i get a new replacement-for free woohoo". I was worried it would get worse or warranty expiring ( i was a week a way from 2yr warranty), so i sent them in. Im literally pissed at myself now.

same shoe man. Both sku leads to the same shoe which is the new version. No YAK leather stamp. And the tongue tab is not tan leather anymore. I argued for 10mins with this b*tch on the phone at TGW. Literally the only thing she kept saying to me was "sometimes the manufacturer doesnt tell us when they change the shoe ". I gave up. 

 

theres a black on ebay. I would bite the bullet but i just cant wear all black shoes on the course. Call me weird, but its hard to blend with all my light colored attire on the course.

I’ll let you know since I ordered them. I already have a pair in white so I should have a good idea which they are when they arrive. The one that is advertised as yak is not shown as Gore though, so who knows…

check the inside too. If i remember correctly, wasn't there some sort of a stocking material liner on the inside ?? Someone in this post reminded me of it. And i do vaguely remember this feeling. Im not 100%.

 

Either way, the feeling is quite similar when you slip it on. But i can definitely tell the difference after i walk a few holes. The softness just wasn't there anymore. And the toe box was rubbing the bottom part of my toes (around the toe box crease) when im walking.

If it has a Gore label, that should be decisive. IMO the 3 was designed with the softer yak material in mind, and the cow hide likely creases rather than conforms. You’re not the first to notice or be displeased with the change. I count myself lucky if they’re the yak version.

Lol and I thought mine were bad.  Yes that is what happens with no care, ditto, these were worn a.m. dew sweeping rounds, one.after another and kept my feet bone dry.  All I did was wiped them clean and made sure they aired out, but never applied product to them.  Leather got stiff and started to crack after the seems started to come undone.  I think I might get some glue and try to repair these and use as my winter walking shoes.  They are so comfy!

Have an all white pair with with BOA system.  Great shoes but have no idea if they are older or newer models.  Tried a bunch of shoes and narrowed it down to these and FJ premiers to cover to opposite styles.

Literally the EXACT same situation but with a different model.  End of '21 I sent back a pair of the BOA spiked version as my feet were getting wet.  The '22 versions were awful and dug into the top of my foot to the point of being unwearable.  I've been forced to go back to Nike (which I hate as a company) but the new Ecco stuff just hurts.  😢
