Who has gone from a flow neck to a mallet putter?

Who has successfully gone from gaming a flow neck to a mallet? What model putter were you using and what mallet did you switch to?

They are not mutually exclusive.  A flow neck hosel can be on a blade or mallet putter.

Right. But they are not rotationally the same. I’m wondering who has played a high toe hang blade and switched to a mallet that worked well with their stroke.   Also curious what models they might be.

I putted better inside 5' with the mallets but my lag putting suffered.

 

BTW. I went from a SC PP Del Mar 3.5 to an Odyssey WHP #7... then a Cleveland HB Soft #11... a Bullseye... and back to the Del Mar 3.5.

 

IDK. Is the fang design is considered a mallet?

No offense, but this is a useless question. Anyone can switch from x to y for any number of reasons, but your experience will likely differ. Take your "flowneck" gamer to a big box, and roll it alongside every putter you like the look of. Even better! Go get fit and actually see what works best for you. 

 

FWIW, you can have a mallet with all sorts of neck and toe hang. Every mallet you roll will be very different from your TP mills.

A flowneck mid-mallet is the sweetspot  for me.  I'm not a huge fan of the 8802 but absolutely love the Odyssey #9, SC Del Mar, style.  If Ping ever made this style ina  putter that suited my eye, I would be all over it  (The Ping version--Shea H-- has a "softer" look that I am not fond of).

I’m using the hydroblast flow neck right now.  Good putter with around 20 degrees to hang.  Feels a lot more stable through the stroke than my 5.5.

Interesting. The 5.5 is what seemed to click at the shop (as far as that goes). My tour spider is a push right all day. I want something to inspire more confidence on shorties and less punishing on off center hits, but the zb just can’t seem to get knocked out of the bag.

The 5.5 may be just the flat stick for you.  Everyone is different.  For some reason it’s the only putter I have a hard time squaring.  Feels like I’m fighting the flow.  Could be your ideal putter tho

I just picked one up cheap.  I gamed the LV H7 for 3 years.  On my mat it felt really good.…and I hated the TM Spider Tour Red and Black

I have 8 putts right now I’m tinkering with.  The LV H7 and new H4.5 have been my favourite.  Have a friend that’s a rep for Makefield, they are coming out with more models.  Might try them out in the spring.

It’s impossible to say what kind of mallet you’d be best off switching to. And you never said whether or not you like, or putt well with, your current flow-neck blade

 

If you putt well with it and like the flow-neck, then I guess a mallet with some toe hang would be a decent place to start - but, again, it’s still very possible that you’d prefer a face-balanced mallet, so you just have to do some testing

 

Odyssey’s White hot og ‘Seven Nano’ might be an interesting option if you still want a flow-neck
