Outside of firmness I cannot separate V1 from V1x

So you are truly noticing - maybe 5 feet? - of height 150-250 yards away?  Color me skeptical.

I notice the lower height on my drives, 100%

The lower flight of the pro v1 been a constant difference and the main reason I’ve preferred it

Excited to try the '23 Pro V1. Been a long time since I've played anything other than a TP5X so hoping to see what the fuss is about with these new balls that were inspired by the left dash. I think it will be a good match for my SS and hitting fades off the tee. Green side spin might be an issue but new wedges can make up for that loss of spin...

I've been a regular V1 player for a decade or more, never liked the X.

I had heard the X this year was softer so when our pro mentioned the 4 for 3 deal, I asked if they do ball fittings. He handed me a trial pack that had sleeves of both 2023 models. I  went out late one day and played a loose nine hitting the same tee shots, approaches, pitches, chips and putts with each.

In the end, I found the X just as soft on short game shots and a hair hotter in full swings (but still a great feel) but what really sold it was putting. I have an Odyssey putter with the White Hot face and for me, the regular V1 often felt and sounded wooden on putts while the X always felt and sounded perfect. I went back two days later just to hit shots inside 50 yards and to putt and the X was again the clear winner for me.

Put in my custom order (#74 for my birth year), excited to get them.

And FWIW I'm a 10.5 with driver swing speed around 105.

That’s only initial launch. The cover aerodynamics of the V1 keep it in a lower window.

Yes, golf ball indoor trackers / simulators has an algorithm for how the ball should fly given a certain launch, who knows what ball that's based on?

Simulators should be able to adapt to ball type choice.

I know at least Ping has a golf ball launch machine with rotating rubber tracks (or something) with which they can launch a ball at "any" chose angle and backspinn, I guess they want that data for different golf balls to build better clubs. Results can be somewhat accessed here:

Over the last several generations, Titleist have brought those balls (V1, V1x) so close together for us low to moderate swing speed players it's almost down to picking the one you like the sound and feel of. Even as recently as the 2019 versions that driver ball flight difference was totally noticeable, even on my 200-yard drives. The 2021 versions I think it was still there but no longer clearly obvious.

But I've now played quite a few rounds each 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x and just can't see it. They seem to fly the same height with my driver and while I think there still might be a tiny difference on iron shot it may be my imagination.

I'd reckon someone with a more consistent swing and 20% more clubhead speed would still see differences.

I'm going to update my comments on this, just because I recently compared Pro V1 and Pro V1x head to head for the first time in quite a while. Had lots of time to kill during a VERY slow solo round on a crowded course. So I decided to play two balls on every shot (except putts) on each hole, one Pro V1 and one Pro V1x.

After seeing the driver shots side by side, I do think the Pro V1x still flies noticeably higher than Pro V1, as it has done for years. Pro V1 maybe a little higher driver flight than previous generations but still lower than Pro V1x.

The one surprising difference was on advancement and long approach shots with 5-iron or hybrid. I noticed, at least on that one day, a definite improvement in distance and height from Pro V1x. It was just a handful of shots with each ball but every single time the Pro V1x was longer. Maybe just random variation in my swing or contact but it seemed like a real thing.

Other than that, pretty much down to sound and feel differences. No difference in actual driver distance (just height) or short iron distance or wedge shot spin. Just the visibly higher Pro V1x driver trajectory and that unexpected boost of a good 10 yards distance on my hybrid shots. Back as far as 2013 the Pro V1x would have definitely landed steeper, stopped quicker and checked up better with irons, wedges and short game shots. That is no longer the case for my game, now.

I've been using the Trackman simulator at my club once a week during the winter.  They have several RCT balls of both the Pro V1 and V1x to use.  I don't notice a huge difference between the two, other than the obvious firmness of the V1x, and the V1x seems to spin a 100-300 RPM more than the V1.  Launch, height, carry, etc. all seem to be pretty similar between the two for me.
