Booking St. Andrews non-Old as a single?

I'll be in St. Andrews again for a few days in late June. I'll be the only golfer in the group and will try to play several rounds while there as a single. I've got one booked at Crail already, but in looking at the St. Andrews Links courses (excluding the Old - I think I will skip all the necessary jumping through hoops for that one on this trip), it doesn't seem like they'll accept any advance booking for singles. I'm hoping that I may just be able to go by the Links clubhouse on the day of in the morning and inquire about what they'd have available that day for a single on the New, Jubilee, and Eden courses. Does anyone know how doable that is or any other method for getting on as a single there?

When you arrive in St. Andrews, go by the starter shack. Explain your situation and they should be able to tell you what courses will have availability at what times. They are very helpful and will do what they can to take care of you.  Since there will be so much daylight that time of year, chances are pretty good you’ll be able to play any of the courses you want except for TOC. And even for TOC they have “dark times” they may be able to get you on. You’re not guaranteed to finish before dark, but if you hustle you may finish.

Yep as hammer says just rock up to the starters hut and they will tell you where and when - should be ok to get on the New Jubilee or Eden - but as a single you also stand a good shout for the Old as they will slot you into a 3 ball or pair you with another single if there is a two ball opening - things change fast but they are on it - best opportunity is if the weather is crap and you head down early in the day.

if nothing in St Andrews - Try Ladybank GC or Scotscraig GC in Tayport - both only 20mins drive and well worth it both great courses - you generally cannot book a single in advance but if you call the club secretary even on the day I’m sure they will try to accommodate you.

Download golfnow for last minute deals. There won't be any Links Trust courses on offer, but there may be other courses of interest on the day. I use it quite often when travelling.

I was there at the tail end of Covid restrictions so it might have changed but basically I just had an alarm set to remind me to call the day before (I want to say 10 am) and you get into a queue (it tells you what number your are). Once they answer you book. At that time, the New had no advance times, so every morning you just line up at the prescribed time. As has been said, St Andrews is extremely accommodating. I think you’ll also find the local golfers are thrilled to have visitors playing the non-Old courses and are very welcoming.
