My 425 Max driver was hot yesterday, it made less work for my irons, it was a dream round. Golf can be frustrating, yesterday was fun & there's always room for improvement.

Great review of the 430’s and continued follow ups with launch monitor info. Nice place to hit the ball around to!  Question on the Recoil 780’s Stiff you were fitted with as I’m starting to think a quality graphite might be for me and these are affordable. Would you say you have a more deliberate swing or a more aggressive transition/downswing? Much Thanks!

Hi ... during my Ping fitting, I found the ES 780 Recoils performed much better than the other graphite shafts I tried including my Steelfiber i95's, these shafts are a bit lighter, load easily with a solid kick/release at impact.  They may even be a bit easier on my hands/wrists as I do have a more aggressive swing & take a divot. If you have the opportunity, give them a try. Trust this was helpful.

Cheers

My last round today in Palm Springs, very happy with the G430 irons, came home with the same ball, broke 80, honeymoon's over ..... back to the great white north. My home course won't be open until early/mid-May.

Happy Easter ... cheers

May 01 .... first round on my home course back in Canada, lost 1 ball made 2 birdies, missed a few more opportunities & shot 80 today. I definitely noticed my new G430's irons are much longer and easier to launch than my old Titleist 718 AP2's. The elevation here is 3100 feet while Palm Springs it's about 475 ft, that also makes a bit of a difference that I have to readjust too.

I used the 45 & 50 more than normal, they produced good solid shots. The 45 is great bump & run stick, it helped save my Par a couple of times. It was my new P/W (41*) that let me down, was playing a layup to about 145 yds & it went much further than anticipated & into the pond on #18, a Par 5 which ended up a double. The 3 Recoil 95's I installed in my 45, 50 & 56 wedges sure feel great a bit higher ball flight than my Steelfiber i110's but hold the greens & easy on the hands.

Need to dial them in a bit, it feels great to hit solid shots or even miss hits off center towards the toe and still land on the green in reg.

My buddies were impressed with the new sticks, they even commented that they sound good ..... really!

Cheers

Thanks for this thread.  It’s great to see someone continually post 6 weeks post purchase.  So we get past the new club honeymoon phase

As someone who has a set of G430 supposed to ship out this week, I’ve enjoyed reading your experiences with them.    Thanks for the pics as well.

Also being 64 this month and living in Maryland, I envy your swing speed snd the ability to spend 3.5 months in Palm Springs.

Yup .. getting old but still flexible helps & with the new tech with jacked up lofts increases ball speed = more distance, I'm sure you'll enjoy your G430's too.

It's the -35C winter temps that sends us south to enjoy the golden years in P.S. ..... I plan to die broke.

If your thinking of taking a golf vacation trip to P.S. ..... have a look at my thread below, lots of good info with pic's on thinks to see & do there.

May 15th .... came home with the same ball & shot the lowest score this season on my home course with my new G430 irons.

If my putter cooperated it should of been 2-3 strokes lower. Had 1 blow up hole #6, didn't get out of a deep green side bunker.  My long irons specifically the 5i & 4i are a big improvement over my old Titleist 718 AP2's, I'm hitting the longer (190 & 205 yd) Par 3 greens in reg again. The 45* wedge I bought as an after thought has been amazing, it's produced some excellent 1/2 & full shots, not to mention bump & runs. My only concern was I'm hitting my mid-irons a bit too far, need to dial in those yardages.

For those thinking about new irons the G430's are worth taking a look at, don't worry about the jacked up lofts nor the sound, these will definitely help your game, possibly save you a few strokes as they are very forgiving on off center hits and make the game more fun again.

Cheers

David

I see you have gone with a 56 as your most lofted club, was this the case with your prior clubs.  I currently have a 54 and 58.  I am considering the G430 irons and I am considering going only with a 56.  I played for years with only a 56, so I don’t think it will be a huge adjustment.  The other option is dropping the 6i (my longest iron).  It appears the 7i has similar specs to my current G25 6i.  I am considering going to graphite shafts, otherwise I would stick with the G25s for a few more seasons.

Driver: Cobra Aerojet
5W: Ping G430
3H & 4H: Ping G410

58*: Cleveland RTX Zipcore Full Bounce
Putter: Odyssey Tri Hot Double Wide CH Putter

I also have a Vokey SM6 60* with Steelfibre i110 in the garage, rarely take it out on course, my 56* is more versatile. You won't be disappointed with moving into graphite as long as you get fit into the right mfg/shaft.
