Forward pressers - LAB Press grip

For you guys who forward press or like your hands forward...

 

Anyone tried a lab press grip turned around so the grip is pressed forward but the shaft is a bit m9re vertical? 

 

I'm going to give it a try. I like my hands fairly well forward at address. But I don't like more than 4 degrees of loft. In theory, this should allow me to press the hands forward without majorly delofting the head.

Sort of like armlock without the bulky length.

 

I struggle to swing the putter inside to square unless my hands are well forward. Maybe this is the diff maker for me...

I had a center shaft putter that had too much loft on it but was very difficult to bend.  The press grip solved that perfectly.  Doesn’t have anything to do with what your asking but these grips can be used in different situations with success.

Grip arrived quickly. Put it on my spider gt. Does what I hoped from a setup perspective. Will roll it tomorrow morning.

This thread had me intrigued. Remembered I had a forward press grip and put it on my short slant spider x upside down like this. Been putting on my practice green and actually kind of like it. I like a forward press but like you I don’t like delofting so much. Playing Sunday and may try it like this.

Reps on my mat tonight. There could be something to this. Not a single pull. Ball starting on line nearly every rep.

Practice green feedback. 

 

Definitely something to this setup. It's not a "put it on and all problems are solved". But, if you like hands forward and a simple "rock the shoulders " stroke then this grip setup could help you. You can maintain loft and notnhave the putter head look all wonky.

 

I'll definitely spend more time with it. Setup was really good from 10 feet. Just avg from 5.

Was able to get more time on the practice green yesterday. There's enough promise to this setup that I ordered another one to put on another putter I have. 

 

What it has shown me is that part of my issue with pulls is the flat front of the superstroke pistol gt 1.0.

Played today and my putting was just okay. I think this definitely could work for those that like to forward press but not deloft. My issue is I just putt better with smaller pistol shaped grips.

It would be awesome if lab could do the 3* press in a smaller shape. The 3* grip is really large.

Anyone have thoughts/insight on how to remove a press grip while saving it? I’ve got the OG heavy rubber one that I had them put on when I lengthened at LAB and kept my press 1.5. Was thinking of throwing the 1.5 back on but don’t want to destroy the OG. 

 

Seems a bit tight to get something down to squirt solvent and loosen, but anyone have thoughts?

Get one of these. A bit of solvent on the end to get you into the grip hole and then solvent into the grip hole...

 

Takes some work, but it does the trick.

ok dope, I have one, just didn't know if anyone had actually been able to work it into the OG which is solid rubber. Didn't look like much space and I didn't want to scratch up the Accra shaft by trying... but I'll look into it

I used it on a stroke lab shaft last night. Scraped the paint off in one spot, about an inch long but didn't damage the shaft structurally.

Another update...

 

I put the grip on an odyssey 11 ch I bought. It's very promising. It's really good from 5 and 10 feet. But the added bonus is that, with my hands forward and a mallet putter in hand,  not a single long putt hopped off the face. 

 

A lot of promise...will hopefully get on course Saturday.

Yeah, it won't stay on. I was able to get some data on it. I have it on a pxg Hercules. I stopped by pxg Tues to see about their m16 putter shaft. So I was able to compare the press grip against a putter setup exactly like mine but with a ss pistol. 

 

Turns out, the ss pistol is better for me. With the pressgrip turned around so the round side is facing the ball I has between 1 degree closed and 1 degree open to path. With the ss I was never closed to path. Square to 1.1 open.

You may want to double check the install.  The grip should be installed to promote a forward shaft lean.  This is what it should look like for a right handed putter.

Could you use their pistol grip and get the left hand version. rather than installing upside down? I can't get away from having my hands pressed forward enough to keep my left wrist straight (I think its left over from growing up and rolling a Wilson 8802 and Cleveland Classic).
