Blended iron set, same shaft?

I’m thinking about blending my iron set with two that i already have. I want to play mp32 from pw-7 and jpx 850 for the 4-6 but they are very different shafts. Amt s300 in the 32’s and c tapers in the 850’s. Do you guys think this would be a tough transition to hit these shafts during a round back and forth? I would get which ever set reshafted but this is experimental really anyway.

Only you can answer that, since you already own them should be easy to go see what happens using the clubs, should know pretty quickly.

First set of AP irons I got a long time ago I blended AP1 4/5 into 6-PW AP2 with the same shafts just because the fitter figured the same shafts could go into the AP1s, really didn't test them much.  Turned out the 4/5 never felt right at all and weren't a good match for the shaft for some reason or maybe it was SW (but it was supposed to be the same) - they always just felt "heavy" and soft/dull, so I wouldn't assume same shafts would always be the answer.

IMO if that's what you want, fine.  Whether it is difficult depends solely on how sensitive you are to their difference.  Personally, I wouldn't do it, they are too different.  AMT shafts vary in weight, c-tapers are constant weight.

That said, I used to have Tensei AV White shafts stiff, (90g, 92, 94g) in 2i to 4i, and MMT 125s shafts in 5-PW, and MMT 125tx 8i shafts in 52 & 58.  Though different shafts, both are stout, SW was the same, and they are made by the same company,

I think over time, you will learn them just fine. Its not like you are introducing 3x different shafts into your bag, just one other shaft x3. It might be an awkward transition at first, but few range sessions and rounds later, it would be just fine... As long as you are okay with having different ball flights for those group of clubs. Two different heads will react differently to identical shafts anyway, so even if you matched the shafts, the flight and distance gapping will be off, as well as feel.

Between hybrids having different shafts, wedges, fairway woods, drivers, we have all gotten used to and accustomed to various shafts in the bag.

To me the swing weight is the most difficult thing to adjust to when moving from one set to another.   I'm very dialed into the swing weight of my irons and if I swing a club where the swing weight is different it really throws me off.   On irons, that is more critical to me than the shaft itself or the hunk of metal glued to the end.  If the OP wants to do a mixed set that's fine but I'd pay very close attention to matching the swing weights of the two sets especially at the transition from one set to the other.
