Ecco Biom C4 Yellowing

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new pair of shoes. Traditionally been a FJ guy. Have owned pairs of others, but find myself coming back to FJ. Came out of a pair of Pro SL which i was very happy with into a pair of Traditions. I like the styling and they are comfy enough all for the price point, but not quite as stable as I would prefer. That being said, I am pretty much down to either G Fore Gallivanters or Ecco Biom C4.  I am really going for comfort plus styling and willing to pay the money for that which has led me to these 2.

 

Now, that being said, I like the look of the Biom C4 white with the red and blue side vents, but I have heard some rumblings and seen some pics even from a friend that show the bottom and sides severly yellowed after not very much use. I generally take very good care of my stuff, but would this yellowing be impervious to any cleaning ritual i do?  Just looking for feedback from anyone who owns these.

I've seen the same comments so looking forward to how others respond to this. Haven't quite found a colorway in the C4 that has made me for sure want to pull the trigger.

This is the exact reason I got the pair with the black midsole and outsole and white upper. Believe the color is just called “white/black”

I've only had mine for a month so I don't know but what I do know is that they are fantastic feeling.

Mine has yellowed. I think it's partly due to the staining from grass and oxidation. Not sure if it's preventable. You can use a mix of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and leave them in the sun to fix it but that's a lot of work for something that'll keep happening. The yellowing doesn't bother me as long as shoe is comfortable and keeps traction.

I’m on my 3rd and 4th pair of Ecco C4s and they definitely yellow even though I clean my shoes every other round. I hate it but they’re so grippy and so comfortable I’m not willing to change.

Anyone that owns C4s, do you notice the cleats leaving impressions on the greens?  I have started noticed my shoes leaving impressions on the greens and want to make sure I’m not causing any damage.

Only when the greens are overly wet/soggy. But in those conditions everyone is leaving temporary impressions on the greens, regardless of shoe type.

Just a quick update. My foam soles cracked and tore and Ecco warranty replaced them. The new C4s no longer come with the clear soles. They are sold blue-grey soles now. Maybe they had complaints on the yellowing of the old model?

Here are photos of mine after about 2.5 seasons. I know they are H4s but I thought it might help provide some perspective on yellowing.

I've had several pairs of the Biom's and they all have had this same issue. I don't know what it is that causes the yellowing, but it seems to happen to a lot of my shoes and I try and take really good care of them. When I'm done playing I always clean off any grass or debris, if their wet, I towel dry them and even use shoes tree's but I can't seem to stop the yellowing. It's happened to my Biom's, Nike's and my Oakleys. It's even happened on the clear hard trim on some of my Oakley's. Must be the materials their using.

I love Eccos but the quality is notably declining. For instance the "leather" on the G5's is nowhere near up to the old Yak leather on G3's

The "Leather" on the new C4 doesn't really feel or look like leather. It looks and feels more synthetic to me. The previous model year felt more comfortable IMO.

How did you get yours replaced? Mine also cracked at the same spot yours did, but wasn’t sure how to get it replaced. I bought mine through Amazon

This is exactly what mine look like, including the separation in the sole in the ball of the foot area. But mine are 2+ years old with countless rounds on them. They’ve been great shoes.

Mine bought April 2022, now on the third pair, but retailer refusing to replace. Ecco deny a manufacturing error, three pairs in 2 yrs with exactly the same fault??? Really?? Ecco need to honour their brand.
