USPS still in transit

A item I ordered from a seller here has been “still in transit” and tracking hasn’t updated in 4 days. Is my package lost? Or is there still a chance it comes.

I’ve had the same problem before, and the package was lost. I hope that’s not the case for you.

How long did it take to find out?

I would contact the seller and let them know about the tracking. Sometimes if the seller inquires about the package it will start moving again. I have two packages from Feb. that are in transit arriving late. I eventually filed an item not received and was refunded on Ebay.

Where are you located and where did the item ship from?  If it’s a cross country trip, 4 days is jumping the gun a bit.  You could reach out to the seller and see if he could open an inquiry, sometimes that gets things moving.

USPS has the worst tracking system in the business.  I’ve had tracking show item received by USPS and the tracking never updates until it’s delivered.

I have had this happen many times with USPS…. And then it either randomly comes up as out for delivery or shows up at my door. I don’t even give it a second thought anymore. 

 

its USPS….. I would give it a little more time. 
 

btw… everyone please use pirate ship or some equivalent and stop donating money to the shipping companies.

Knock on wood. The tracking updated this morning.  Scheduled for today delivery.

When you say still in transit. Did it not show the last city and state it was scanned in? I just went through this same issue. Showed that it was scanned in Salt lake city Wednesday morning and in transit till I got a update saying its out for delivery today.

So its coming from one end to another end. Makes sense why it stilled showed in transit. There have been crazy weather in the midwest. Maybe it got rerouted and took longer.

I have been told from 4 different postmasters in two different Post Offices through the past several years that packages are supposed to be scanned at every stop (post office/sorting facility) when they arrive and ship out.   To nobody's surprise, that does not always happen  (they all confirmed this).  Ultimately, the tracking info online is at the mercy of the sorting facility holding the item each step along the way.

 

I once had a package I mailed out (from Western PA)  sit for 4 days at the same facility in New York (near NYC) without movement. These were all working days.

This isn’t unusual for USPS unfortunately.  Months ago during a 2-3 day span, I sold five items and they all went out USPS ground advantage.  I’m not suggesting priority mail would have been better.  Anyway all 5 were delayed.  3 of them didn’t even show any status (appeared as though I never dropped them off).  It took almost 2 weeks but all packages made it.

 

i won’t use USPS anymore.  It wasn’t always this way but they have really gone downhill.

 

also recommend pirate ship. They only have USPS and UPS options, but shipping UPS is quite a bit cheaper with them.

You are still "donating" money to the shipping companies. Just doing it via a 3rd party such as Pirateship.

I think the point is you are not giving them more.    I could pay USPS $18 directly or I could pay Pirateship $10 and USPS gets their cut (which is probably 90% or more).

I've run into this several times recently too. There are often very "problem" shipping hubs around the US known for these sorts of delays. Packages will arrive there and sit for days or even weeks sometimes before they move, similar to the sorts of delays we all saw during the height of the pandemic. Check your tracking info for whatever hub it last touched and/or is delayed at and search for it's name + "reddit" and you'll likely find lots of people discussing problems with said hub. The Lithicum Heights Distribution Hub for example is known for this, and I just searched it and found tracking someone posted that looks exactly like one I had last month and one I have currently:

Honestly, it took about 3 to 4 weeks to get all tracked  down and figured out. Crazy!
