Advice during simultaneous games

Don't believe you could've called it a press as the match was over. I'd think it'd have been a new bet.

 

But the guy was correct - your match was over so you are no longer partners.

As you are now just another person to your former partner, he cannot ask for advice from you [Rule 10.2a. second bullet point].   And he is obliged to try to stop you from giving advice if you persist in doing so. [Clarification 10.2a/2].

I’d argue you shouldn’t have given advice at all in regards to the singles nassau. That, or your “partner” should have been penalized anytime he asked for advice. 
 

In regards to the singles nassau, you’re simply an outside agency. 
 

Though, since the singles nassau was match play, your “partner’s” opponent was allowed to overlook breaches, like his opponent (your partner) asking and receiving advice. Once the fourball was done, the opponent was basically saying he will no longer be overlooking advice breaches. 
 

Stands as played. You couldn’t, legally, give advice during the singles match before the fourball was over. You certainly couldn’t legally give advice after the fourball was over.

If advice is asked from a partner for a shot that has to do with the team's score there is no Rule saying it could be a breach. Should that advice simultaneously help that player in their nassau then so be it.

 

Personally I hate the idea to have two "competitions" going on at the same time with different Rules. There will always be difficult collisions to be awaited.

Exactly my point. Totally legal in fourball to ask your partner. Completely illegal in a singles nassau to ask an outside agency for advice. 
 

Two have both going at the same time is silly to try to apply the rules. 
 

It’s why I’ve advocated, and asked more than a few times, for the ruling bodies to get rid of penalties for advice during a round. Ask whoever you’d like, you still have to hit the shot.
