Flipping through Impact

Recommended Posts

I know video isn’t full speed, but very slow backswing throwing off transition sequence.

Get your tempo app or a metronome app.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

In recompense for your introducing me to the term Ballerina 68 I will introduce you to the idea that the hands resist the forces exerted by the club.

Might be in a top 5 for YT video on pressures, resistance, and our engagement with them.

I swung out from underneath myself, from the lower part of my body.   Byron Nelson

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

@MPStrat how do I stop doing that?

Like most things with golf instruction, not usually an internet tip kind of fix.

You have a misunderstanding. You need to learn to allow the body to make its contribution to transporting the arms and club to and through the ball.

You are very arm dominant in your golf swing from takeaway though impact. That’s also why your backswing is slow.

This starts with learning dynamic footwork, shift and sequencing. Need someone good to work with you in person.

Thank you — I appreciate what you’re saying here, @MPStrat. Surely there is a video or drill that can explain this further and help me with those concepts, in the meantime?

Dr Kwon’s stuff on YouTube is a good start. The odds of you applying the information correctly on your own are very small. You likely won’t see any major positive change in your motion without guidance and supervision.

You can start here     I second the notion that doing this own one's own is difficult - I've seen people not be able to walk with only arms as he does - that said it can be done if you video and pay close attention to the details.

Here are a couple of explanations of the motion - in the first is an example of what you do - the load onto the right side then shift everything and rotate at the same time in the downswing.   The second is hogan as an example though you can find plenty of players like tiger, etc that have this motion.

It does help a lot to have a knowledgeable set of eyes to confirm or correct.

One drink and that's it. Don't be rude. Drink your drink... do it quickly. Say good night...and go home ...

Assuming clubface is in a good position at P6, I think a lot of it is getting the torso down and the chest open, and keeping the right arm bent through impact. If you are far from the ball at impact, arms are going to extend, and to square it they'll need to flip a little, kind of like Rickie, although he just won haha.

I started doing rotator cuff exercises in an effort to help keep my right arm more bent, to help fight the feeling of throwing the club. Could be something to explore

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
