Bridgestone tour bx vs Prov1 durability

Anyone have insight on how they compare in durability? Specifically the newest models

Yes, I’ve played both…the Pro V1 is better for durability than the Tour BX.  Titleist makes the Pro V1 with a cast urethane cover while Bridgestone makes the Tour BX with an injection molded urethane cover.  Cast urethane covers are generally more durable than injection molded urethane covers.  Not saying the Tour BX’s are bad for durability, they are good….just that the Pro V1’s are better in terms of durability.

ProV1 is way more durable than the Tour B X.  However, I like the B X in terms of performance over the ProV1.

Thanks. any idea why there is a difference in the cover production methods? Expense?

Depends on who you ask. Not surprisingly those who use thermoset covers say they are best whereas those who use thermoplastic covers say they are better. There are great golf balls made each way. I’ve extensively played both types and don’t see any performance or durability advantages of either type.

In general I've found Pro V1 family balls of the last few generations to be very durable. Not supernaturally durable, they will still pick up minor damage from bunker play, carts paths, trees, rocks, etc. But about as durable as anything.

 

I've recently played a couple dozen rounds with Tour B X and they were OK but not great. After a couple rounds you could definitely tell the ball had been played but they were cutting or losing chunks or cover or anything. I'd day a Tour B X after 18 holes looks about like a Pro V1 after 54 or 72 holes, something like that.

 

Even a Pro V1 I'll tend to retire after four rounds (i.e. put it in my shag/practice bag) just because it inevitably does have a few minor bruises or scuffs.

Nobody on the course this afternoon so I played a two ball scramble with the Tour BX and ‘23 Pro V1X. I didn’t notice any durability difference between the two.

I've played the Tour BXS and the Pro V1 exclusively this year and haven't had one durability issue with either.
