Last Minute Packing Tips for Scotland?

A group of us depart this Friday from the U.S. for Scotland.  Besides the obvious stuff like rain gear, what last minute things do you suggest to pack?  Thanks!

hydration powders that you may like (zipfizz, liquidiv);  your pain medicine of choice (lol) - otherwise there is nothing you can't get when there.

Good socks -several pairs - and a 4 iron - enjoy your trip!

My packing advice is don't over pack. Pack versatile outer layers and plan on using them several times. If you like to buy shirts and hats from courses as souvenirs, then pack a few less than normal and wear the ones you buy while you're there to save space in your bag for the trip home.

Roll everything up, vs laying flat in bag.

 

Leave umbrella at home, not needed.

Pack much less than you think. The temps are ueually great so less dripping sweat so you can reuse and rewear most things. Buy some travel fabreeze and spray your clothes down every day. For a 10 day trip, I do 3 pairs of golf pants (1 worn on plane), 5 polos (trash at end of trip), and 1 rain suit, the jacket doubles as a wind breaker. No one cares about how you look there. Pack 2 pairs of golf shoes (one in the carry on to make sure they get there.)

Well Scottish weather right now is stuck, due the jet stream, in a winter weather pattern; I went down to the course this morning to practice and it was dead for a Thursday, Westerly wind 20mph and light blowing through rain showers. I was fine in just shorts and a jumper as temps are good at 18* ish. Long range we are stuck with this until September the forecasters are saying then a heat wave! we will see.

 

I personally would pack very little golf clothing and just buy here; so much good stuff in the shops and with the exchange rate, assuming you are American, its sooo cheap! saw a table on Tuesday with 8 golfers all with bags talking about the prices!

 

Depending on where you are going and playing, just make sure you have the appropriate levels of attire from formal jackets to smart shoes.

 

You can buy most things in Scotland that you can in USA; some things are different and better some are just weird in comparison. I miss Velvet Taco.

Thanks!  We arrive on Saturday and will be playing 8 days from Saturday to Saturday with all our rounds in the Fife area.  We'll happily take cooler temps and we'll be prepared for rain and wind when it comes.  Thanks!
