NFL Weekly Picks 2023

... I am still contemplating my picks with late information like McCaffrey was a full participant at practice yesterday. But I feel like the Over/Under is far from an educated guess and basically just a coin toss. Since I have never even contemplated an under/over bet let alone actually pick one, I am almost tempted to use an NSX type hedge bet and just go all Under or all Over and hope the odds give me a .500 chance of getting 2 right. 🤔

... Oh I get we are all in the same boat and I am not complaining. I just feel like I can make an educated guess on win loss but not over/under so I am just trying to figure out how to take my shot.

Hickory just left Harrah's with bags of Casio cash in his Jeep. He did well at the tables and also hit plenty of plays while making live bets on the Rams/Det and Phi/Bucs while watching those games. Hickory is very good at picking winners. He went 4-2 and hit his DIP in week 1.

Will his hot streak continue this week?

If you read this you would see that before we started the first week that the point values were all set for the entire contest, and yes they have descending values. You were not personally hosed for winning your DIP. We also switched from one pick in a game to two picks, a side and total. I'm happy you joined us for the contest, but if you followed along a little closer you wouldn't be causing me the extra work by having to give you personal explanations on how the contest works. I have been rather decent for doing that.

You also did not post your points during your first week.

I like what you bring to the group with your fun attitude TDK, but

The NFL Playoffs Contest 2023-2024

Please make sure you understand the format and the point system. Please also bookmark this post so you have it handy all Playoffs long to refer to when you have to submit your total points for the week.

How it works.

Each player gets two Double It Please (DIP) plays to start. DIP's are totally optional. They can be used only during the first two weeks of the Playoffs. That is the Wild Card Weekend and the Divisional round weekend. You can use your DIP plays once each week during the first two weeks. Again this play is optional.

Week 1 - Wildcard Weekend

Pick either a side or an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed.

Each winning pick is worth 20 points.

A loss is 0 points.

A Push is worth 5 points.

If you DIP'd a play and it hits you win 40 points. If you lose your DIP play it is -20 points, and again if you Push it is worth 5 points

Week 2 - Divisional Round

Pick a side AND an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed.

Each winning pick is worth 15 points. A loss is 0 points. A push is 5.

If you hit a DIP it is 30 points won. If you lose it's -15 points. A push is 5.

* The Double It Play (always optional) at this point in the contest is now over. There is no DIP play involved during the final two weeks.

Week 3 - Conference Championship Games

Pick a side AND an O/U in both games.

A winning Pick is worth 10 points

0 for a losing Pick.

A Push is worth 5 Points

Week 4 - Super Bowl

Pick both the side and an O/U in the game.

Each winning Pick is worth 25 points.

0 points for a losing Pick, and 5 for a Push.

Submit a Total Points Scored in the game in the case we need a tiebreaker.
